Title: Henry Thomas Lawler Rixon
Post by: june54 on Monday 29 April 19 13:09 BST (UK)
Hello all
I am looking for baptism for Henry Rixon born abt 1899 in Pyrton.  I believe he may have been illegetimate.  His grandparents are Henry Rixon b 1837 and Emma b 1839
Thanks in anticipation.

Might this be his birth registration

Mar 1899 Henley

Rixon Henry Thomas Lawler

No mothers maiden name

If you are wanting to know who his mother was then you can order his birth certificate.
No father will be listed but the name "Lawler" in his given names could be a clue.

Am guessing Henry is living with his grandparents on a census?

The 1901 census with grandparents has their daughter Elizabeth Rixon 27 who could be his mother.

Thanks Milliepede, Unfortunately he appears on the 1911 census as grandson but there is a daughter Caroline in the household who could also be his mother.  That is why I was hoping someone would have access to the baptism records for Pyrton who could identify the mother.

Yes I saw there was a Caroline.

If you can’t find a baptism then you will have to obtain his birth certificate.
No other option really.

There was also a Clara who was still single in 1901.

I've tried to find a baptism on Ancestry, where the Oxfordshire PRs can be viewed, and failed miserably.  No luck with a county-wide search, and nothing in the Pyrton records up to the end of 1911 which I checked page by page in case the name was mistranscribed.

For some reason I keep thinking the name LAWLER might be Scottish :-\

You'll probably need a £7 PDF to solve this one :)
