...... work?
-
What was this person's occupation on the 1910/20/30/40 census?
-
Only listed in the 1940 census as a result of emigrating from the UK in 1931. She was listed a waitress.
-
Beats me. Can you give a link to the certificate to see more of the handwriting.
-
Thanks! I'm equally as stumped... ???
-
It seems to say
Instician Work
Institution?
-
I very much think I am wrong ………. Dietitian

Nooo! Look harder at that census!
Beatrice is listed as a waitress, but look at all the other people on the page, and the page heading!
They are all working at an institution (horribly mangled spelling on her death registration).
I can't make out the name of the place, but judging by the number or ward aides and practical nurses, it is some kind of hospital. I think I can see the word "children" in
it.
1940 census header:
-
The words in brackets are 'For Invalid children'.

Good eyes! It's much clearer on the next page: Children's Sea Shore House (for invalid children) on Atlantic Ave. It looks like it relocated since she worked there:

I read it as Institution Work but think a slight misspelling
