Post by: maggbill on Tuesday 30 April 19 07:57 BST (UK)
Not sure if anyone can help by access to the USA census of 1920/30.  Looking for a John Anthony Cody also known as Sean Brian Cody.  Born in Ireland, about 1900 or thereabouts.  Possibly located New York.  Will be glad of any help - thank you

Hi Aghadowey, Sandra and all,

Sorry not to have got back to you sooner - busy with visitors.  And also sorry that you have spent time with the "Deady" link - it is not as far as I know at all connected with my "Cody".  YOu have spent a lot of time on this red herring - so my apologies - and I do appreciate your efforts.  Sorry also that it is all so vague.  The situation is that my gentleman was born possibly in Co. Cork, not sure exactly when, but possibly very late 1890's - 1910?.   We do believe that he got to USA via Canada - but not sure under which name.  Eventually made his way to Australia.  All vague.  Have had a good look at the Census links on FamilySearch,  not coming up with much but did find a John Anthony Coady born Cork 1901, - but no further info on it.  Difficult one.

This would appear to be the James Cody on the 1911 census for Monalour which is referred to on the above passenger list.  Please can you tell us if this is the correct family  ??? ???

Again Sandra and Aghadowey,

thank you very much - yes, you have him (Sean Brian/John Anthony)  this time... have found basic details on Ancestry - all correct re marriage and Australia. Not able to access the full tree -  Also have found the Irish birth info... Am doing this for someone else, so not sure if it will answer the question this person has - good start though.  Brilliant Rootschat again!
