Title: Absalom Beaney
Post by: nelwild on Friday 03 May 19 12:54 BST (UK)
This man married a lady called Emily May Worsley in Faversham Dec quart 1939.She was born in Faversham in 1918.I believe she married again to an Edward J Rawlings in Sittingbourne in 1955.Ive found a death in Thanet in July 2000 which I think is her, showing DOB 13/09/1918.

Id like to find out more about her 1st husband Absalom Beaney. If anyone has any info on him id be grateful.

Thanks.

From Free Reg.
Absolem Beaney baptised 14  Sep 1884. St John the Baptist. Wittersham.
Parents Henry and Phoebe. Hop pickers. Travelling in vans.

Do you have the Beaney/ Worsley marriage certificate with Absolom's details?
The only possible matching death I can find is Absolom Beeney, age 76, June 1954, Eastbourne.

Thanks for the reply.

Im not sure.Theres a few Absaloms. These 2 would be a bit older than her.She was born 1918.I cant find any Beaney/Worsley births either. The marriage cert would probably reveal more, but I was hoping to add him without having to send for that.

The 1884 one would be 55 in 1939,so a lot older than her.

Its hard to know which one without the marriage cert.Ive found one for Oct 1920 Milton mmn Newing. So almost the same age as her,and the right area, but I cant find a death record for him. Also in Milton,a marriage in sept 1909 Absalom Beaney/Florence Elizabeth Newing,he could be the 1884 one.

Have you found Absalom on the 1939 register?

Thanks for all the replies.

I haven't found the 1920 Absalom on the 1939,but I think ive found his parents. His mmn was Newing, and there are three other Beaney births mmn Newing:

Emanuel William 1909 Milton

Fanny May 1916 Milton

Belcher 1924 Milton

On the 1939 theres an Absalom born 25/11/1885,but mistranscribed as Abraham, with Florence E b1887,Manuel and Belcher.I think Manuel married Mina Hilden in Dartford in 1940(Emmanuel Beaney).Florence Newing is on the 1901 as Newin b1888 Milton.

Im thinking theres a good chance that this is Absaloms family. It all fits geographically.I would need to get the marriage cert to confirm it,but I think this is the most likely one.

I have an Absolom Beeney/Beaney in my tree b. 1904 in Northiam, Sussex who was the brother of my great grandfather John Beeney.

I haven't looked into detail with him yet, but will let you know if I find any crossover with the names you have mentioned.

ALso the Beeney/Beaney family is a well known travelling family, so might be worth posting the same question on the travelling families forum too.

thanks
