Hi there,
Im trying to trace a William Greenaway Poole who married a Elizabeth Sarah Perry on the 19/5/1830.
They had a daughter called Catherine Elizabeth Poole born 5/9/1835 Camberwell London.
But I just cant seem to find them in 1841 or any other census at all.
Would love to find out if had more kids & Williams & Elizabeth's parents.
Any help to point me in the right direction would be great thanks

Is Catherine the person who married Henry George Hamilton, Spitalfields,November 1859?
Her father is given as William Poole, clerk. The record suggests that he is alive as Henry's father is marked as Deceased.

You can check birth registrations with the surnames Poole and Perry on the GRO birth index to see if they had more children.
Have you checked death registers for them or a marriage for Catherine?
-
I think we posted at same time, Milliepede.
I found a marriage for/a Catherine in 1859.
-
Yes we did. I see the marriage you found, looks promising.
Residence at time of marriage for Catherine was 20 Union Street.
-
Hi yes got the marriage for Catherine to Henry Ive got the marriage cert
-
In 1861 Catherine and Henry have a baby son Henry but in 1871 son Henry age 10 has a mother Mary so has Catherine died :-\
-
Looking for Poole/Perry births there is a
Clarence Bland Poole born Mar 1839 St Luke Middlesex
and a possible death for that name in Jun 1842 age 3 West Derby
-
Yes henry goes on to marry a Mary Pyne in 1865 :)
-
just so annoying I cant find Clarence Bland Poole in the 1841 census >:(
-
Ah here's another baptism
Catharine Boulton Poole 17 Aug 1834 - born 20 Aug 1833
father William Greenaway Poole
mother Elizabeth Sarah Poole
-
Death for William Greenaway Poole
Jun 1868 Greenwich age 61
-
Now that links to a marriage in Dec 1857 Greenwich
Mary Ann Lowndes Freeman
Thomas John Morris
Susannah Pocknell
William Greenaway Poole
-
Yep have found William in 1861 living with a Mary A Poole so this must be his 2nd marriage
-
William marries Mary Ann. He is a widower, occupation gent. Father William occupation gent.
Mary Ann also a widow. Both of full age. Her father Thomas Lowndes occupation gent.
So what do we reckon to that - same person?
-
I think it is the same person ;D
-
There's an Elizabeth Sarah Poole death in Westminster Mar 1856 age 49.
So just the 1841 and 1851 census to find ;D
-
Found a family tree with another child listed - Victoria in 1837.
Am speculating the first Catharine died and the next baby was called Catherine after her.
Yes burial for her 25 Apr 1835 St Giles Camberwell.

-
Just tried looking for Victoria Poole in 1841 census but nothing comes up not even a death for her very annoying indeed & nothing for 1851 either.
-
Coincidence with Clarence (if he belongs to the family) but death for Victoria Poole same district as Clarence West Derby Jun 1842 age 4.
Could both children have been sent away together? Bit of a mystery for sure.
-
Funny that both Clarence & Victoria died same year 1842
-
And the same quarter.
Out of curiosity I might be getting the death for one of them if they were mine but where are they both in 1841 ???
-
An 1845 bankruptcy case lists his addresses in Toxteth Park, Liverpool (where he was clerk to a solicitor) and previously Camberwell (where he was a vestry clerk from Jan - Aug 1838).
33 Toxteth St; 48 Park St; 182 Mill St (all in Toxteth Park)
Between Camberwell and Toxteth he was at 33 & 34 Bishopsgate St, London

Ah that's interesting and links him to the area the 2 children died.

Maybe threads should be merged as rosie's find in reply #18 was already found in other thread - 10 years ago?
