I have a Tabitha Burbidge registered as a patient in 1871 at Weymouth Holy Trinity.
Tabitha Burbidge
Event Type Census
Event Date 1871
Event Place Holy Trinity, Weymouth, Dorset, England, United Kingdom
Enumeration District 3
Gender Female
Age 22
Marital Status Unknown
Occupation Grocers Shop Girl
Relationship to Head of Household Patient
Birth Year (Estimated) 1849
Birthplace Lytchett Matravers, Dorsetshire
I can find no records of a hospital being there until 1872 and the census doesn't state that she was in the workhouse, where people are usually referred to as Inmates. Was there a hospital in Weymouth Holy Trinity around that time.? Or some kind of mental health institution maybe.? ???
-
The first page of the census says it was the Dorset County Hospital and the address is Princes Street Dorchester next to The Rectory - Rector of Holy Trinity Dorchester.
That might help place it on a map. Although I see you have Weymouth and I have Dorchester so maybe that's the confusion.
-
If you do a search for Dorset County Hospital some old photos and info come up :)
Founded in 1840 to treat the working poor.
-
Thank you Milliepede. That is the confusion. I've come across the Dorset hospital in Dorchester with other ancestors, but not one in Weymouth before 1872. Could it just be a mistake on the census.?
Oh, I love the old pictures. :D

I love the old pictures too.
I don't know where Weymouth has come from? The census I found her on only has Dorchester.
-
Then I shall assume they meant Dorchester, and keep the Weymouth registration as a forethought.
:)

The source of the census details in your post is from FamilySearch, and is obviously wrong. Neither Ancestry or Findmypast, which FamilySearch direct you to, have mention of Weymouth in the transcription of the census entry.
