Title: Thomas and John Mooney
Post by: Cmcw1982 on Monday 20 May 19 01:27 BST (UK)
Hi everyone,

My Grandmother had several siblings with whom she had little to no contact. John Mooney, born1930 in the Liverpool area. His father and 2 sisters died in Bentinck Street in 1940.

Father was Terence, mother was Margaret (nee Roonan). John had either a wife or daughter named Ivy. I don't know where they have been since 1968, at which time John was still in Liverpool. I know nothing about Thomas.

Does anyone have any info? The families of the other siblings are connecting now so we'd love to find the rest!

Thanks in advance

Claire

Edited to update for info gained.

Hello, Claire and welcome to RootsChat.

Hello Claire and welcome.
Firstly, I echo Maiden Stone’s advice re living people.
Have you got birth details for these two siblings?

John Mooney birth registered October 1928
John Francis Mooney birth September 1928 death April 2005

Thomas Mooney birth registered April 1930
Thomas Anthony Mooney birth 5th April 1930 death February 2006

Could these be your family?

Heywood

Yes those are the correct births, I believe. I've got the connection with Thomas' family now but not John's. I don't know whether they're still living, which is why I'm trying to find out about them.

Those deaths look quite possible so maybe you could check those.

You can check for marriages on the above site and then check for births with mother’s maiden name.
Using the names you have given, there is a marriage and a child from that marriage. We cannot give those details.

That area - maybe someone in the Eldonian Village estate can help - thats where most of that community have moved to - contact someone on this site and ask

https://www.eldonians.org.uk/

I am betting a pint someone knows your family - a very tight knit community of wonderful people
good luck

Thank you, I'm contacting them next. I don't know Liverpool so other than the fact they were in Bentinck Street and then Clubmoor I've not much to go on!

Thanks to everyone for your contributions, I'm making wee bits of progress!

If they moved to Clubmoor that is quite a way away from Bentinck St - most Clubmoor houses have front and back gardens so maybe they qualified for a Liverpool Corporation house when theirs was knocked down - so Eldonian Village might be a wild goose chase  >:(

Thanks for that. I'll keep looking, I've found likely death dates for our Uncle and his wife but I think I've exhausted the scope of this site now, because I can't confirm those deaths yet.

Thank you again for all your help.
