Thanks Sandra , that is brilliant . My mum , gran and grandad befriended an American G I who was called Bill Harnash { probably Wilbur ? } His mum Mary sent a beautiful silk scarf to my mum and Bill sent a signed book to my gran . They exchanged letters up to about 1948 ish . Bill survived the war in Europe and think he was in tanks . It would be nice to see if any war record exists too .

There is a reference to the marriage of William and Eva Lowenstein on the old fulton postcards site just put Eva Lowenstein in.
Also try Wilbur Harnash - he could have been the teacher -of distributive selling at Davis High School. (Mount Vernon NY Daily Argus 1951) - plus other articles
Binghampton Press - 29 August 1958 - Wilbur Harnash of Flushing, L. I., has been hired to fill a vacancy in the commercial department. He has a master's degree and has five years teaching experience.

Artist to Marry
(Special to The News)
NEW YORK, June 12 -- Miss. Betty J. Sharr, an artist, formerly a resident of Pompton Lakes, now of 583 Riverside Dr, New York, will be married here today to William Harnash, a student, of 2290 Davidson Ave, The Bronx.
Born in Pompton Lakes, the bride is the daughter of Isadore and Jean Sharr. Mr. Harnash, whose parents are Harry and Mary Berman Harnash, was born in Yonkers. A marriage license was obtained by the couple at the city clerks office here yesterday.

Thank you all , so far I have seen nothing to suggest William had any children . Its a shame they spelled his name wrong on obituary too ! I wished I had made this search earlier as he only died in 2012 . How many times do we say that !
I found a " draft card " for his dad Harry Harnash but strangely can't find anything on William { Wilbur } .
I think if I was to make contact with the family maybe Beatrice's children , Steven , Dan or Mona might be worth a try ?
Regards

Hi Alan,
Thanks for the message. The obituary for mother Mary did not indicate any grandchildren from Wilbur's side as we said earlier.
There were no grandchildren mentioned in the Obituary for the father of Betty nee Sharr in 1954
The Herald-News Passaic, New Jersey 11 Nov 1954, Thu - Page 42
https://www.newspapers.com/clip/31905666/isidor_sharr/
We can't name the children of Beatrice they are hopefully all living people, you would have to remove there names.

Elizabeth - Betty Harnash spent 2 months in England arrived 3 July 1953 from New York on the Zuiderkruis.
New York Passenger List retrurn 1 Octber 1953 on the Sibajak - Rotterdam to New York.
Sandra
-
That is interesting , on his letter in August 1948 he mentions if money was not so tight they would love to travel to Europe . Maybe she went on her own then ?
Regards
Alan
-
Just found Wilbur on the same ship Zuiderkruis 3 July 1953 and 6 September on the Sibajak out of Rotterdam 6 September 1953
Sandra
-
Wow , that is good .I remember my mum saying that now Bill had a wife and mum was married with me born it might not be a good idea to reply to that letter like he asked { Dad was probably jealous ! } I wonder what sights they saw , Rotterdam was a mess after the war and guess Europe in general was too in 1953 .
Regards
Alan
-
Hello Sandra , I see there are 3 entries for Bill and Betty { 2 for Betty , one for Bill } You mention their return from Rotterdam on the 1st October and also the 6th September , I wondered which one was correct ?
Regards
Alan
-
One entry for Betty was cancelled - but those dates were correct - Betty on the 1st October - Wilbur on the 6 th September - travelled separately.
Sandra
-
Thanks Sandra , that seems a bit strange , maybe he had to get back for work .I found a photo of both ships so that was good .
Regards
Alan
-
Maybe that was the start of "parting of the waves".......... :-\
Sandra
-
Yes , that was exactly my first thoughts ! She was an artist so who knows she might have even got some work . I tried to find a grave for Wilbor but no such luck as yet .

Alan
-
Hello Sandra , I am finding conflicting dates of death for Harry Harnash , some saying 1976 some 1943 ? Could you shed any light on it please ?
