Title: Victorian Registry BDM
Post by: sarra on Saturday 25 May 19 01:28 BST (UK)
I have been trying all week to download a marriage record from the BDM - website.

If and when I'm able to get to the last page where I select Uncertified record or download record.

The widget just keeps going round and round and then at the top of the page -  in red it's says there is a problem and to come back later.

Well I have been coming back later all week and it has not been fixed >:(

Has anyone else had problems with the website.?  I never had problems with the old website.

It's been like that for several months since they applied their new database!  I asked the question  why didn't u run the old database along side the new database until u iron out the bugs, answer was they don't think there is a problem!  So please complain....otherwise it will stay the same.

Freya and sarra
Many would say the new Victorian BMD database is the Australian family research travesty of the decade.

If one section of it is working, you may be quite sure another section will consist of white screen and wheel rolling endlessly.

I think it is getting to the stage where only a petition will push an improvement.

Petition ..... where is it,  please stand aside ...make room ... I want to sign it now .... can I sign it  once a day, every day until they fix it ... NSW bdm took three years to get their online indexes up to where it is now ...

I wonder if the IT 'spurts went from Syd to Melb and lost further pages from the TO DO manual

I should send an email to COMPLAINTS every day until it's fixed. Think I will start from today - enough is enough. >:(
Probably I will get black listed. >:(
Do they have a Facebook page? not that I'm a Facebook person. :)
It's a hopeless MESS that new website.

This has happened several times and it is now impossible to even search....
They are aware but doing O and do not think there is any thing wrong with their system!!

Hi

have you sent a complaint to your local member in the Vic Parliament. In NSW (where I live) I have tried this on a couple of issues and it seemed to get somebody to do something to fix my problem or maybe it was just wishful thinking on my part.

Hi Cass,
After reading some of the Google Reviews online about this Registry BDM's - I doubt they would take any notice of anyone.
One lady contacted Neil Mitchell's radio program - complaining she could not get her deceased husband's Death certificate.
Lots of people writing reviews. >:(

A lucky moment for you perhaps. An error message for me about technical difficulties  :-X

It would be laughable if it was not so annoying.

Yeah well,

I'm getting that message too.  This time it comes almost at the start.

Just received my Ancestor Journal from the GSV, they have remarked about the NEW website.

Odd!! It still works for me.

If you go to https://my.rio.bdm.vic.gov.au/efamily-history/5cef5ff826801c22c59d34d3 and edit it to just https://bdm.vic.gov.au/

Then click on "Search Your Family History" and at the next screen click on "Search Our Records Now"

It opens up every time.

Odd!! It still works for me.

Then click on "Search Your Family History" and at the next screen click on "Search Our Records Now"

It opens up every time.

On the odd  occasion I can get it to open and then type in the record I wan to download.
It then takes me to the page where it shows...uncertified Record - download record - etc...then checkout add to basket....widget just keeps going round and round - then the sorry we are having technical difficulties.
Do you mean you can actually get to the checkout and download a record.?

Sarra

From your link this is what I get ...today 10.24 am...
Sorry - our system is experiencing a technical problem. Please try again later. (Error code: {{errorCode}})

Still not working for me  ::)

I am always clicking through twice

I get the above error message, then click on the Victorian BDM title and that takes me back. I then click search family history, scroll down and click start search

Long involved process but mostly get through on the 2nd go.

Still dont like the layout but at least I do get to look at it

We note the issues raised in the forum discussion. We recently provided an update to the many family historians who have contacted us following the transition to our updated online services. It can be viewed using the link below, you may find it of interest.

Another thing to try is using a different browser; some websites work better with different browsers.

Couldn't help smiling at this bit

......We are aware that customers and stakeholders may have experienced difficulties getting through to us, including receiving an engaged signal when calling us due to heavy call loads.

We have directed additional resources to our call centre and online enquiries teams to help address this heavy demand on our services.[/i
]......

Interpret as-
.... we have had to put on extra staff to cope with the huge load of complaints.....
