A kind researcher sent me a copy of a church record from Poland from 1897. Unfortunately I do not speak or read Russian. I am hoping that someone might be able to translate this document for me.
Thank you!

You may want to edit your thread title, as it's written in Russian, not Polish. Sorry I can't translate for you.

Hi Bookbox,
Thank you to alerting me that the record was in Russian, not in Polish.

The right hand edge is missing perhaps a couple of letters from the end of some words, one of which is a place name. Approximating the old Russian spellings and no doubt some words are wrong.
(Pelagia z Markowski)
Recorded in the village of Łukomie, year 1897, eighth(twentieth) August at 10 in the morning.
Appeared Stanisław Tomaszewski, 22years, smith, resident in Komorów and Feliks Wąsicki, 50years, resident in ?Puco.. who declared that in the village Łukomie the thirtieth July (eleventh August) at 1 in the night, died one Antoni Wąsicki, 54 years, journeyman, who was resident in Łukomie, had been born in Skępe village, son of Marian and Josefa, née Płażyńska, leaving a widowed wife Pelagia, née Markowska.
Then it says the record was certified by ... and read aloud due to illiteracy ... or something like that.
The dates are written in Julian and Gregorian (old style and new style). And note that Marian is the father's name and Josefa the mother's (not the opposite as they would seem!)
So using Wikipedia to find some of the place names, ?Puc... might be Puc, Puszcz or something else.

and there are very many of these

Thank you so much for your help JohninSussex! This unexpected genealogical gift from Poland has helped to enrich a part of the family tree that little was known about. Your translation was invaluable and most appreciated.
Warm regards!

Yes it would be very useful for us if the English death certificates from that period told us the names of the deceased's place of birth, father, mother, mother's maiden name, wife's maiden name.
But no all we get is the "informant" and the husband if the deceased is a married woman.
