Working on a Tree on Ancestry for people in Inch, Co Wexford.
All the people have been entered as being from Inch, Co Wexford.
No mention of anyone with any connection at any time to Co. Cork!
Ancestry now gives me a Map location for Inch in Co. Cork... AND then adds Auto-text and Map for Co. Cork GARBAGE (as marked).
How can I get rid of the Garbage please??

You have to delete and start again maybe type Inch at beginning AFTER youve typed county.
Those blooming auto fills often sneak up and give american addresses instead of UK ones even Wales USA
Or Scotland USA can come up
You can acroll down for options but clicking on correct choice is sometimes tricky
Or just put ireland and copy in details that you know ARE correct from a hint ..another members tree or a document.
Good luck

The thing is :)
It is every entry on the Persons Page that affects where they are!!!!
Yesterday I was cursing that someone was placed in DORSET -- when they were actually Anstey Leics.
Now that was MY fault .... as per... :( :-X Because I lazily put Leics.. Not LEICESTERSHIRE and therefore there must be an Anstey In Dorset.
HOWEVER
When I checked it all out it was half way down the page of their 'facts' NOT the actual main fact..
Is that comprehensible?? -- I doubt it..
will add a pic ----
as you can see I must have NOT filled in Leicestershire properly for the sibling..
SO my fault..

Got rid of Autotext.... but still have Map!
Didn't have to change anyone's details. Can live with Map as Cork isn't mentioned for anyone ;D

Only from Civil Registrations and gravestones! ;D
Yes, one person mentioned on 2 headstone has different date to other, so Death Registration used.
All others will be also checked for accuracy. Dates on grave markers aren't written in stone ;D
Tree set to "Private" so no one can steal and manipulate/corrupt it.

Well done for finding a solution you can live with .
Im scared to check life stories now ...

Don't like it anyway...telling me someone was three when the sister was born etc. I know as I just entered his Birth!!! and putting in someone was 12 when the Battle of Travalgar took place and putting a photo in.
Swamping a person's page with trivia!!
As for the "Geographically Challenged" person who thinks the only Inch in Ireland is in Cork.... no comment! ;D

I've yet to have anyone corrupt my public Ancestry tree.

The Stories thing on Ancestry is awful. It can't cope with most addresses, usually placing them in the USA, despite specifying another country. Often it will place USA addresses in the wrong part of the USA!
-
I never look at "Stories" - a complete waste of time, as far as I am concerned.
I stick with "Facts". ;D
I have about a dozen trees on Ancestry - most of then Public.
Never had any data altered/corrupted by anybody else?
I can manage that quite happily by myself ;D
