I'm looking for information about William Lucy's parents and siblings. He was born in Enniskillen and says on his marriage certificate that his father was called William Lucy as well and was a gentleman. Does anyone have any suggestions?
-
What was the family's religion?
What was the father's occupation on the marriage cert.
Sorry you said Gentleman
-
Yes - I don't know the religion but I think it was Protestant (Church of Ireland)

Hi
The valuation book for Enniskillen in 1836 has
William Lucy Main st house office and yard £20 0 0
The dwelling is 18 ft long 27 1/2 feet wide and 18 1/2 ft high
Addition 20 x 13 1/2 7 1/2 high
stable 49 x 13 1/2 15 ft high.
Info taken 1835 and tax Dec 1836.
He was entitled to vote from 21 Oct 1833 so with the Great Reform Act that extended the vote to the top riches fifth of men in the UK.
The 1846 Slater directory gives a William Lucy porter and spirit dealer at Tonystick Enniskiillen
Also a Mervyn Lucy same address and occupation.
1862 Griffiths Valuation
William Lucey Castle st lease of William Dane £10
four down from Earl of Enniskillen pub.
There is a death of a William Lucy in June qtr 1886 at Enniskillen age 77 which would fit.
Castle st 19 Feb 1886 William Lucy 77 Grocer and publican married paralysis 3 months Inf widow Eliza Lucy Reg 17th June 1886.
I can't see a marriage or death for Eliza after that.
This may be his Will
https://apps.proni.gov.uk/WillsCalendar_IE/willsSearchResultsDetails.aspx
William Lucy late of Doogery Cty Fermanagh Gentleman 1888 but the date of death doesn't match.
Mervyn died in Enniskillen in 1870 age 66 so perhaps William's brother.
The protestant church records are at PRONi but don't seem to be on line.
The Mormans seem to have microfilmed them but you'll need to go to one of their libraries.(only 1666-1826 for them.)

Hi
There is a letter to the Editor from William Lucy 7 Dec 1848 to the Enniskillen Chronicle and Erne Packet newspaper which says he has been in business in the town for 18 years.
There seems to have been a complaint against him from a servant girl.
I can't find the original article from the week before but William is not happy.

Using GRONI's database the marriage for William Lucy 12 Dec.1861 Fermanagh district is to a Robinson. Checking under Robinson gives bride as Sarah not Elizabeth.
Added- Family Search has extract of marriage-

Added- this could be the Elizabeth Irvine on same page-

Wonder who the Eliza, widow, that Registered his death was.

Have added a bit more to reply #8 and didn't get red notice that you'd posted.
Perhaps William & Eliza weren't actually married (and that's why we can't find her after his death). Valuations might shed light on things?

William Lucy, dealer, Enniskillen, age 50, widower, son of Andrew (dec.) married 1869 in Newry to an Elizabeth Johnston (age 30)!
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1869/11419/8194153.pdf
Added- William Lucy & Sarah (nee Robinson) had at least 1 child born after 1871 so she wasn't his first wife.
-
At least it shows that the two names I posted are only on same page! Not married to each other...
-
I quite fancy these as William's first wife and child-
Jane Lucy, married, age 30, died 25 June 1865 Castle St., Enniskillen

William John Lucy, age under 1 yr., died 15 May 1865 Pigmarket, Enniskillen

The poster is looking for William Lucy born 1839 in Enniskillen and says on his marriage certificate that his father was called William Lucy as well and was a gentleman but doesn't say Who he Married or Where!
One could waste hours looking, only to be told "Oh No, he married in Oz".....
-
We haven't really been told much but there might be conflicting details on previous topics of the OP?
Can anyone help with information about my great great great grandfather William Lucy? He was an inland revenue officer in Cornwall in 1867 aged 28 and his occupation is listed as excise officer in 1871, still in Cornwall. In 1881 he is a supervisor of inland revenue in Herefordshire. I can't access many records as I live in Sydney Australia. Any help would be much appreciated!
