According to the Death indexes, he died in Melton Mowbray District, Leicestershire. Maybe he's buried there and memorialised in Brookwood?

According to the article in the Grantham Journal on 19th April 1940, he was the son of Alice Crolla of Moston, Manchester.
Alice Mackarell married Joseph Crolla Q4 1912 in Manchester.
Leaving out the sad section - "Alice Crolla said her son was normally 'a quite sort of lad' and had never complained about Army life. He had never threatened to take his life, and when he left her he seemed perfectly happy and normal."
