Sometime between 1919-1924 Edward William Horton born 1902 Bristol may of gone to Canada. Can find no record for him after 1911 when he was living with his parents Edward and Jane Horton in Bristol, plus his 2 brothers Henry and Reginald.
On ancestry there is a record of a Edward William Horton arriving in Canada but I do not subscribe to world wide records I cannot view it. I have also looked at familysearch they do have a William b in England but not sure
Any help would be appreciated.

Edward stated he was going to his brother-in-law W Pugsley - this is the Pugsley family in 1921 at the address given on the Metagama Passenger Lists. Elizabeth was the sister of Jane nee Brokenbrown/Horton.

Some added information on the family which is rather sad and maybe the reason the whole family went to live in Canada for a new start. Edward William was their first child 2 years later a little girl was born Lilian Blanche who died age 1 in 1905. They then went on to have 3 little boys. In 1914 a girl Christine Elizabeth was born but again unfortunately she died in 1915.
Jane Horton who came back to visit Bristol twice very likely came back to visit her family Jane's maiden name was Jane Nellie Brokenbrow.

I wondered if the 1926 trip coincided with any event, perhaps her mother was ill. Sadly noticed her mother died a few months later 1 October 1926 - probate to Ernest James Thierry Broad and John Arthur Lewis Solicitors.

Everything seems to be working into place until I come to Edward and Jane's death.

Now I have Edward's birth approx 1882, which could be wrong as from the UK Census.
But Jane's birth is another matter. I have Jane Nellie's birth year as 1893 which is a big difference and her birth reg is

Hi,
Looking at the photo of the gravestone (link posted by Sandra above), Jane died on 3 Oct 1973. I looked for obits for both Jane and her husband Edward, but didn't find any. :'(

If you look at the 1939 register - you will see her mother living with her.
I believe the wife of John Courtenay died 24 December 1937 - 2 Imperial Road Redland Bristol -
probate 11 February 1938 to joyhn Courtenay licensed victualler.

Middle initial is differen to obituary but I think this may be the son of William Herbert Horton and Joan Beryl Hynes - Gary Roy Horton born about 1944 died 22 October 2016

Possibly...the first part of Wm Herbert's son's name is right, but middle name certainly starts with J - is not Roy. Wife's name is the right initial from William Herbert and Beryl's obits - but not the right name. Also - only one of the children's names from this obit match a grandchild's name from W H and Beryl's obits. I don't know if the parents of that child are G J and L or P and B.

Found an obit for L's mother - Marguerite Audrey Darbyshire. She died in 2000. The 2 Horton grandchildren are girls and they have initials J and A...they don't match the names from the Gary Roy Horton obit that Sandra found earlier. I don't think that the Gary Roy from that obit is William Herbert Horton's son.

Oh well...that happens to everyone!! We all have lines that we thought were right, but later found out weren't ours. :) :). I will stop searching for Hortons now.

I have now another problem with the Brokenbrow family. Jane Nellie marries Harold O Tucker in 1918 Bristol. In 1938 Jane marries John Courtney, mind you FreeBMD have John down as Jean!!..Sure that marriage is correct as on the 1939 census Jane's mother Marian is living with them.
But can I find a death for Harold,no. There is a death in 1970 for a Harold Oswald Tucker b 16th Nov 1895 5f 2282 so maybe they divorced?

Researching another branch of the Brokenbrow family and guess what James's brother William born 1859 had a daughter called Jane born 1882 Bristol, married to Edward Horton in 1901. Yes its the same family that went to Canada in 1920. Really am pleased.
