Hi I am trying to see the details on the death cert of John Shepley who died 17 Dec 1876 (I believe) at Mitcham, South Australia. From Trove I believe he was connected to the pound at Lower Mitcham.
I don't know how he connects to my tree and I believe that ancestry trees are incorrect at this point. They assign him John Shepley and Hannah Leigh as his parents in Dukinfield, Cheshire - who are my ancestors but I am fairly certain are not his. However we are probably related and I am wondering if his death certificate gives any clues as to his parents.
Hope you can work your usual magic.
Best wishes
Helen

South Australian death certificates do not name parents of the deceased in that era. John was a poundkeeper.
From my resource

Possibly his arrival - noted as John SHEPLEY and two children and next on the list is Hannah SHEPLEY.

Thanks for that - the purpose of my request had been to correct the entries for him on some ancestry trees - wrongly attributing him as a son to a John Shepley in my tree and I had hoped that the death certificate would enhance my argument.
Best wishes

This looks like the family in Dukinfield prior to immigration:

It looks like John's wife died just before the census.

Yes that is the family, but no clue as to who the parents of John are, unfortunately. But thanks for that.
