Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me find the birth and hopefully parents of my 4x Great-Grandmother Annie Harrington. I have the following information:
• Marriage to Sergeant George Baxter (1842-1911): 19 Feb 1870 at Vepery in India - Record states she is 21 and born in 1849. Father is given as Thomas Harrington.
• George and Annie had 10 children, 3 of which were born in India. The family appear back in England in 1881.
• 1881 Census: Cambridge Cottages, Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. Birth: 1852 in East Indies.
• 1891 Census: Burntwood, Staffordshire. Birth in 1852, East India, Madras. Gives Annie's name as Agnes. This is the only record that gives her name as such.
• 1901 Census: Burntwood, Staffordshire. Birth in 1852, India.
• 1911 Census: Warsop, Nottinghamshire. Birth in 1852, St Thomas Mount, India.
• Death: 1929 in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Birth in 1853.
I understand there will be some variation in birth dates and place per record. I don't know if I've accessed all the records available on the internet, or if anyone will have access to more than what I've got.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I see the marriage (image on FindMyPast) was by licence. Does anyone know where that might be seen? It is a pity the marriage reg doesn’t give an occupation for Thomas.
You would think the birth/baptism of Annie Harrington would appear either on the FIBIS website or on the British Overseas lists. I don’t see it.
I can only see family of Daniel and Eliza Harrington at that time in Madras. Daniel died in 1880 so we can’t assume Annie forgot her father’s name
(Incidentally George’s surname on marriage is written as BACKSTER)

Thank you for your replies. It's a strange one. I've spent hours looking through records but nothing... :(
I've also searched for a birth using Agnes Harrington, as Annie gave it as her name in 1891, but this doesn't yield anything either.
Could it be possible the records are held in India? However, as you said Mckha489, it would be expected for it to be on the FIBIS website or British Overseas lists.

Familysearch.Org also has some Madras records.
A Thomas/Anne or Anna Harrington Baptised
JAMES 10 September 1840
FRANSISCA 28 July 1855
Francesca appears to have married 26 July 1871 Madras,to John URQUHART
James appears to have married 9 October 1872 Madras, to Catherine HIGGINS
Both have Father as Thomas on record.
There are several other Marriage same time frame with a Father Thomas but cant see christenings.

1891 Census: Burntwood, Staffordshire. Birth in 1852, East India, Madras. Gives Annie's name as Agnes. This is the only record that gives her name as such.
She is also recorded as Agnes (twice) in the baptisms record in George Baxter's army file (though the actual baptism records show her as Anne !)
