A Mary Ann Barnard married 3.7.1871 Bethnal Green to John Thomas Hitchcock.  Just shown as full age. Father was David occ carman but 1841 shows him as a printer

One of the witnesses was David Barnard - father was dead by then so probably the wrong marriage

Research has father as a printer.  A copper plate printer specifically.  Some others say his job was related to the printing of bank notes but have not found supporting documents.

Mary Ann had a brother David Andrew Barnard birth 15 AUG 1823 Shoreditch, London, England -Death DEC 1889  Holborn, London, Middlesex, England.  He had a son David as well.  Possibly the witness?

Getting married at age 40ish seems late but hard to say what other factors could be in play to delay marriage.

Have seen a hint about a Mary Ann Barnard b 1832 in London, England, Selected Poor Law Removal and Settlement Records, 1698-1930 dated  10 Jun 1850 Cripplegate, London, England but have not found actual document.

Also a hint for a marriage October 1854 Stepney, London, United Kingdom.  Again, other searches don't find a document

The Poor Law one isn’t her - it concerns a widowed Mary Anne Barnard who was 39 in June 1850.

I think you can rule out the 1871 marriage as that Mary Ann (Hitchcock) is shown in 1881 as 29 and born Suffolk. RG11/486/28/50.

Youngest child in that 1881 is Thos Alf. W Hitchcock aged 1 - birth reg as Alfred Thomas William Hitchcock mmn Barnard, Dec qtr 1879 Poplar, so this does appear to correspond to that 1871 marriage.

The 1854 Stepney marriage was 7 Nov 1854 at St Dunstan’s, Stepney.

Mary Ann Barnard, 22, married Frederick Bailey, 23.

However, her father was Archibald Barnard, a gamekeeper, so doesn’t look like a match.

Found an 1851 census Shoreditch, St. Johns Hoxton, Tower Hamlets with a Mary A Barnard, 20, as a house servant to a William Powis.  Not sure of a way to connect her to "my" Mary Ann Barnard

Found a burial record 4 Aug 1853 for a Mary Ann Barnard, age 21, and Infant Barnard at St. Marylebone, Middlesex but again very little info to connect her to my Mary Ann.  Death location was listed as infirmary so guessing death in childbirth.
