Title: HUGH POTTER, 6th Inniskilling Dragoons.
Post by: trevalyn on Tuesday 25 June 19 16:58 BST (UK)
HUGH POTTER died at 108 Woodstock Road, Belfast on 2 July 1918 after service with 6 Inniskilling Dragoons. His father was also Hugh (died 1899) and he had at least 6 siblings - Sarah, William, Mary Jane, Matilda, Elizabeth and Margaret.

Does anyone out there know where Hugh Potter is buried ?

Yes, LH, that's the family. I'm awaiting results of check for death notices. The fact that his name is on the Brookwood Memorial simply indicates that his burial place was not known at that time.
Grateful to all for your responses.

I searched the British Newspaper Archives (which contain many Irish newspapers) but did not find any mention of the death either.

Northern Whig 8th October 1925 has the following Death announcement:
POTTER-October 5th, 1925, at the Royal Victoria Hospital (result of an accident), Sarah, wife of the late Hugh Potter . Her remains will be removed from her residence , 108 , Woodstock Road , to-day (Thursday) , at 3pm , for interment in Dundonald Churchyard .

------------------------------------

We can assume this is Hugh Potters Mother .
Belfast Cemetary Records hold no such record for Sarah being interred in Dundonald "Cemetary".

If Dundonald "Churchyard" is a seperate place to the Cemetary then i'd favour the chances of her son being in the same grave as her. If not then there is records missing ?

"Churchyard" is a burial ground attached to, or formerly attached to, a church not a public cemetery. My first guess would be Church of Ireland (Presbyterian ones usually called Burying ground).

St. Elizabeth's, Dundonald has graveyard-

Outside my area so I'm not sure what other possibilities there are.

Thank you both. I am trying to make contact with St Elizabeth's; seems the most likely location.

Inserted by his Friend R.

Hi Gaffy.  He is certainly buried at St Elizabeth's . His mother is buried in Grave 561; he is probably in the same grave but I don't have any firm evidence to that effect.

Sorry, I didn't know that you had already confirmed that... hence my newspaper post to confirm.
