I am wondering if anybody has a suggestion on how I can obtain a copy/details of a Funeral Notice
published in the Brisbane Courier Mail on 18 August 1986, page 17 for a Victoria May Thomas. Victoria died in Brisbane 14 August 1986 and there is a memorial at Toowong Cemetery, I am after a copy of the funeral notice to complete the tree details.
As a NSW resident I sent a "ask a Librarian" query to the NSW State Library, they replied that there is a notice on page 17 of the Courier Mail issue of 18 August 1986 and if I would like a copy, fill in a form and send it to them with $16.50.
Has anybody got any suggestions on how I can obtain a copy at a price lower than $16.50.
I am wondering if anybody knows of an online site for the Courier Mail in 1986, I have tried but cannot find one

Thank you so much.
I have also received a suggestion from a fellow roots chatter to contact the National Library of Australia, as I have a NLA Library card I have just sent a message of to them. I hope this is Ok, will let you know what happens.

You have not said what the gaps are in the family tree. Is it of use to you to see the six other burials in the same plot, 1924 to 2005, Toowong Cemetery.
Use this to find burial details - https://graves.brisbane.qld.gov.au/
Then use QLD BDM to identify the deaths etc.

Sorry, I did not explain properly.
To complete a persons information on my trees I like to have a copy of their death/funeral notice as well as photos of headstone/ marker . I have photos of the grave and notices for other family members listed at the grave in Toowong Cemetery, I am just missing the Death/Funeral notice for Victoria.

When I wanted an obit write up in a Gympie newspaper, I contacted the State Library Queensland and they provided a copy of it, free of charge. I’m in NSW.

Jamjar, SLQ provides their services FOC, but only for people outside Queensland if they cannot get it elsewhere. That's why you got the Gympie Times notice so easily.
Capital city dailies are kept on m/film by all State Libraries, as far as I know, and usually SLQ will refer interstate enquirers to their own library.
Cass, if you can wait a week or so, I'll look for it for you next time I go to SLQ which will hopefully be by 7th July.
In the meantime you can send me your email address by PM, if you like.
