I'm looking for more info on the Martins/Kilmartins of Roscommon.
I have a 5th grt grandmother Katherine who at some point around 1832 married a James Callaghan.
James was a member of the Revenue Police and was stationed in Boyle, Roscommon.
I have this from the records 'That James Calahan, Constable in No32 party, stationed at Boyle be suspended 1837' Its around this time the family moves to England.
Katherine and James baptise 2 children in Boyle, Roscommon.
Mary Ann bapt Jun 1832 Church of Ireland. Father is James Callaghan, Revenue Police and mother is Catherine (Surname not given)
David bapt Dec 1833 Church of Ireland. Father is James Callaghan, Revenue Police and mother is Catherine (Surname not given)
In 1841 her maiden name on her last daughters birth registration is 'Kilmartin'
On census records in England, Katherine gives her birthplace as 'Ireland' and a birthdate which goes between 1804-1816.
After James dies she marries Michael Flanagan and she gives her father as 'John Martin, Farmer'
I think she might be the Katherine Martin baptised Oct 1816 Ballyrody, Roscommon. Father is John Martin and Margaret Gannon. This baptism I think was Roman Catholic. Would it be the same Catherine who was baptising children in Church of Ireland if she was baptised Catholic?
Im not sure if this is my Catherine or not as Ive found no marriage of a Martin to a Callaghan but seeing as they baptise in Roscommon I thought she might of come from not too far away.
Any help appreciated.

If my memory is correct he can not serve in a County where he or his wife have kin!

Oh, Right I didn't know that. Its a shame she only writes 'Ireland' and isn't specific on where she is from ::) ::)
I don't know much on Jame's side. In 1841 his birthdate was 1811 and birthplace was just 'Ireland' and on his death in 1843 it was 1809. He also has a brother called David Callaghan baptised St Chads Roman Catholic Church Manchester 1810. Son of James Callaghan. On Davids marriage in 1846 he lists his father as 'James Callaghan, Soldier, Deceased' So I assume father James was stationed near Manchester in the early 1800s.
David may also have been in the revenue police. I did find this - 'Revenue Police 1832, David Calahan of Boyle was made a private' I wonder if he was with his brother James? David is living with James in England in 1841 also listed as born in Ireland but after 1841 changes to Manchester for his birthplace.
