Title: Butler Family, - help needed.
Post by: Romilly on Monday 01 July 19 10:41 BST (UK)

I have Patrick Butler, Baptized on the 26th February 1801 in Galway, the son of Anne and William Butler.

He Married Jane Howard, (Born 1810 in Ireland).

Between 1830 and 1850 they had 3 sons and 5 daughters.

The family are on the 1841 Census in Manchester, Lancs. England.

Patrick Butler Died on the 13th June 1866 in Manchester, and Jane Butler Died in Manchester on the 25th June 1866.

I'm trying to find the names of all of the children.

Cheers, Romilly.

Is this the coach maker in Chorlton?

Per the 1841 census the children were:

Jane 1 in-county

Per the 1851 census:

Stephen 21 born Ireland
Fanny 19 born Manchester
Mary Ann 14 born Hulme
Jane 12 born Hulme
Thomas 8 born Hulme
Mazbath 6 born Hulme
John 4 born Hulme
Anastasia 10 months born Hulme

SO:
Three sons: Stephen, Thomas, John
Six daughters: Frances (Fanny), Sarah, Mary Ann ,Jane, Mazbath, Anastasia

You have Patrick Butler, Baptized on the 26th February 1801 in Galway, the son of Anne and William Butler.

He Married Jane Howard, somewhere in some Church in Ireland, are there baptism records for whatever Church it was?

Many thanks for all the info ShaunJ, - greatly appreciated.

And yes, - he is the Coach Body Builder in Chorlton.

hallmark, I can't find that Baptism. I was talking the date from a Tree on Ancestry.

I think that Patrick Butler is the link that matches me to about 6 of my DNA Matches. The problem is that he's on my Paternal (Wilson) Brickwall side, and so I'm trying to get back to him via the Trees put on Ancestry by my matches. The problem is that the info differs on many of them:-(

That would explain why I couldn't find him! (Good names for the daughters, - hopefully they will be easier to find. I've never come across Mazbath before!:-)

Thanks, Romilly.

Looks like "Mazbath" should be May Beth or something similar. There's an 1844 baptism for Mary Elizabeth Butler on the MLFHS catholic records site:

(Search for Patrick Butler)

Yes, I noticed that someone had submitted a correction to 'Elizabeth' on Ancestry.

The family are the 'Butter' family on the 1851 Census!

Yes you'd have to buy the relevant DVD @£7.50.

Note that some of the Butler children turn up in Ancestry's Manchester Church of England marriages datasets.

I'll try that route first then, thanks.

I already know Patrick Butler's Occupation and Addresses from the Censuses, and so apart from verifying the full Christian names of the children of the marriage, I wouldn't gain much further info.

I've now found the Marriage for Patrick Butler and Jane Howard, on the 24th May 1829, in the Parish of Kilmoylan, Country Galway.

Witnesses were John Kearney and Mary Browne.
