Title: Jane Mitchell Marriage Certificate
Post by: jan carmody on Saturday 06 July 19 05:29 BST (UK)
Hi,
Can anyone decipher the mother's name of Jane Mitchell on this Australian 1856 marriage certificate between Jane Mitchell and John Watson? The father's name is William Mitchell and I believe the mother's surname is Page but I can't work out her other two names!
Thank you in anticipation,
Jan.

Hi Kay,
That what I get out of it too but can find no record of such a person! Can also find no record of a William Mitchell who is a soldier. They were probably  from England or Wales and born circa 1810 as their daughter, Jane was born in circa 1831.

Any other clues here.....name of the church (denomination) ......age of Jane .....names of witnesses.

What names do you see for children born to John WATSON and Jane MITCHELL

What do you see on death certificate for Jane........names of parents.

getting desperate. but there is this marriage

Herren Heppach Goose
Gender:   Female
Marriage Date:   4 Aug 1822
Marriage Place:   St. Stephen, Norwich, Norfolk, England
Spouse:   George Everett
FHL Film Number:   1471634
Reference ID:   item 5 p 31

And I am wondering if she either later married Mr Page or was a widow at this marriage.

There is also a Herren Huppach SHREEVE b c 1847 in the 1851 census who is obviously too young to be 'yours' but
She was born Norfolk too. so Perhaps a Norfolk name?

Thank you for all the replies.
On her death certificate from 1915, it says her parents were John Mitchell and Sarah Page Mitchell so different from the marriage certificate!
Jane Mitchell and John Watson had 3 children, John Henry Watson, Mary Anne Watson and Elizabeth Emma Watson between 1856-1861 in Victoria, Australia. John and Mary Anne died in infancy.
Jane later “married” (can’t find a certificate) Richard Hayes and they had 5 illegitimate children between 1863-1873 around the Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia area. Richard Hayes was a gold miner.
I think Jane Mitchell and John Watson married in the Church of Scotland even though they were both English!
Jan.
