Title: Parish records
Post by: xs on Saturday 06 July 19 19:32 BST (UK)
Trying to find parish records for the children of Elizabeth Long b 1850 Great Ellingham, Norfolk
George William Long born 12 May 1884
Robert Horace Long born 13 Oct 1885 and
Maria Clara Long born 23 July 1887
Can find register of their births but no parish record of their christenings   I'm assuming that they were born in Great Ellingham but may have this wrong as their mother appeared to be working at the Norfolk and Norwich Asylum during the time of their births

Were their births registered in Wayland?
Perhaps Elizabeth did not have them baptized because they were illegitimate or just because she wasn't a believer?

It is also possible that the information is not on line yet.

That is most likely.

FamilySearch has them in the 1901 census all born in Ellingham which does suggest that Great Ellingham would be the most likely parish but as of today the FamilySearch register images only go up to 1853.

ADDED - Ellingham parish baptism register images are on FamilySearch but I could't see any LONG baptisms up to 1900

That's a different Ellingham

There's Ellingham (Loddon Reg Dist), Great Ellingham and Little Ellingham both in Wayland Reg Dist

It looks like Gt Ellingham baptisms for that date are not online. They are held at the Norfolk Record Office.

Thank you all for info  I didn't know that FamilySearch hadn't parish records online after 1853
NRO seems to have - hopefully - the records I need :)
