The attached clipping specifies some occupations. The one I am seeking advice on is the one recorded as Head of Hospital?

I would agree with sewing.
In the depression years women sewed baby clothes and such garments for hospital use.

There appears to have been another word after 'sewing' which might start with the letter 'r'.
I think she might have been 'Head of Hospital sewing r(oom).
