The death notice for deceased estates in South Africa as shown on FamilySearch gives this information:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS75-83ZR-W?i=1228&cc=2573604
Frederick Estlin KEARNEY
Residence at birth: Kingsdown St, Tranmere, Chester, England
Parents: John Joseph Barton Kearney (dec'd); Clara Victoria Kearney, formerly Estlin, dec'd
Age at death: 68 years, 17 days
Occupation: fitter, turner
Ordinary place of residence: 281 Davenport Rd, Durban
Married to Harriet Elizabeth Kearney, at Christ Church Addington, Durban
Died at Addington Hospital, Durban
Children: Eric Fred. Kearney Major
Informant: H E Kearney (wife)
I find it interesting that his wife knew enough about his parents to know their full names and the address given for his birth. Of course she may have had access to other certificates. Interesting to know if she knew of his Australian wife and children.
FamilySearch has a marriage for the son Eric in 1947, giving his age then as 34, thus born abt 1913.

Just putting all this together, I think He ran offwith Ellen THOMAS and used the marriage details from his marrriage to Ada when completeing the death certificate information in Durban for Ellen when she died in 1908.
He later married again to Elizabeth PEARCE

So just continuing on my thoughts from above.
Ellen THOMAS of the probate document posted by Ladyhawk
See
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QLR2-BZX1
It was stated by the informant, her "husband" Frederick KEARNEY ( who had used the date of his marriage to Ada SHILLINGLAW as the date he supposedly married Ellen)that she had a sister Elizabeth HORRIGAN living in Fitzroy Victoria and as it turns out there was such a woman ;D
I cannot see a marriage for Elizabeth THOMAS to HORRIGAN, but there were three children.
This is the birth registration of one-
Gerald Eugene HORRIGAN
Year 1901
At Brunswick, Victoria
Denis HORRIGAN
Elizth Alice THOMAS
Reg 16955
She is stated also to have a brother William THOMAS
There was an accident and Denis HORRIGAN died in 1905
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/149119753
Elizabeth was destitute with three children
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/66893363
Unfortunately I have not located the parents of Ellen, Elizabeth Alice, and William THOMAS
EDIT Adding- If in fact they are siblings
Meantime in 1905 F E KEARNEY resigned from the Amalgamated Society of Engineers, Williamstown Branch as he was going to live in Albert Park.

Just a snippet:
The marriage in South Africa, found on FamilySearch by Ladyhawk (Reply #6) is dated August 1, 1911 and is between Frederick Estlin KEARNEY, widower, engineer, and Elizabeth Harriet PEARCE, divorcee; both are shown as having signed with their full names.
By the time of his death in 1934 his wife has reversed her forenames to read Harriet Elizabeth KEARNEY.

Interesting!
Wonder how many of the wives knew about how many of the wives.
Never did see a decree absolute for Frederick!
Wonder also if weemalla, our OP, is checking the posts here.
Been online but no comment!

I have been taking notice of all the postings. I started off just looking for the DOB and DOD of F E Kearney and his wife Ada never for one moment expecting to learn of his numerous partners / wives and his fleeing off to South Africa leaving family in destitution. Obviously he wasn't a very nice man!

In #18 above there is Gerald Eugene Horrigan born to Denis Francis & Elizabeth Alice Thomas. Can anyone throw some light on when & where Denis was born and when he (and presumably Elizabeth) came to Australia.

Yes, it has been a big journey through Frederick KEARNEY's wives and wanderings..

At this moment I have nothing to suggest Denis Francis HORRiGAN, his wife Elizabeth Alice (nee THOMAS) or her possible siblings William and Ellen, were born in or outside Australia.

Re: Denis HORRIGAN
It appears he was buried at Carisbrook - this would fit with the birth registrations of his children at Majorca and "Cari", and with the adress of his parents given in the death notice.
Denis Francis Horrigan, 34
Died: 21 Oct 1905
Cemetery: Carisbrook, Carisbrook, Victoria
As well as the account of his accident as shown by Sue Trove had a family death notice for him in The Geelong Advertiser:
HORRIGAN.—On the 21st October, 1905, at Geelong, D. F. Horrigan; the dearly-loved husband of E. A. Horrigan, and-beloved son of Eugene and Bridget Horrigan, of Carisbrook, aged.34 years. Requiescat in Pace. ' ' .
The remains will be interred in the Carisbrook Cemetery on Tuesday, the 24th.
WELLINGTON BROS., Undertakers, Ryrie-street, Geelong
He died intestate and his estate of 58 pounds was put into administration in 1906 by his wife Elizabeth Alice HORRIGAN. Her address in 1906 is given as McIvor St, Brunswick and she states that he was of 53 Cecil St, South Melbourne.
Children listed are: Mary Alice, Eleanor Julia, Gerald Eugene and Thomas Denis HORRIGAN
(I wonder how much she got after she'd paid the solicitor)
