Can someone give me some info on this form? Was it for veterans? Was it a pension?
Thanks!

Hi Lorraine

I'm not sure of the form you are referring to, but the National Defence Tax imposed in 1940 was an additional tax to personal income tax, to help fund WW2 and the costly aftermath.
Basically, people who didn't make enough that normally they would be taxed were now paying tax, and regular taxpayers were paying even more.  I can't remember if corporations also paid it or not (it's been too many decades since school!).

Hi lorrainec

I was wondering if  you might be thinking of the following? I think it is a bit different than the tax mentioned by bbart.

It is the tax form. Thanks for the info!  I did not realize there was a 1940 national register in Canada. Might be an interesting read!  Thanks again for the info!
