Title: Census place name URTON? Completed with thanks
Post by: gogogadgetlegs on Tuesday 23 July 19 11:08 BST (UK)
My wife found, this place name URTON for one of her relatives in a census at Wetwang,  we cannot find any place in Yorkshire with this name, only Airton, North Yorks, did it URTON ever exist?

Two questions:

Was this a transcription, or the census image?

Which census, and a reference or name, so that we can perhaps look for ourselves?

Urton for Airton sounds feasible  :-\

Hi, its funny how thing work out, looking through the parish records, most have Urton, Yorkshire, but in the last Parish Record found just a few minutes ago, its states of Urton, Nr Scarborough, so i would think this means Irton Nr Seamer.
Best,
Phil
