Title: Mary Ann Norris/Robert Liddle
Post by: NooshieW on Friday 09 August 19 18:22 BST (UK)
I am looking for the death of Mary Ann Norris b1875 bap 1877 Brighton. Mother Ellen Norris formerly Liddle nee Rowland, father William.
I track her to the 1891 census with her parents, she is 16.
Her mother is a widow in 1911, it states 4 children born ,none left alive.
I am also interested in the whereabouts and death record of her son by her first marriage Robert William Liddle b 1862 Brighton.
Thanks.

Presuming you have checked freebmd and not found a death - have you looked for a marriage for Mary Ann after 1891 as she may have died under a different name?

What is the last census you have found William on - no info in your post.

Have you looked on freebmd for a death/marriage for him?

Is mother Ellen in Southwark in 1901?
Helen Norris, 57, born Sussex Brighton
Piece 379 folio 45 page 29

If so, could Mary Ann have married and/or died in London?
Looking at one possibility
Mary Ann Norris to James William Addison at Camberwell St George in 1899.

1901 has a Mary Addison, 24, married to James, also 24, living in Surbiton. Both born in Brighton (so I guess it doesn't matter quite so much if Helen in Southwark is the wrong lady!)

A birth of a Sydney James Addison, mother Norris, in Steyning in Sep 1903
And Alfred William Addison, mother Norris, in Lambeth in March 1905

In the 1911 free index there is a James Addison, 33, apparently widowed, living in Brighton. And Sydney and Alfred there too, slightly odd relationships.

Baptism of Alfred William Addison at St Anselm's, Kennington Cross, in 1905, is on ancestry.
Parents James William + Mary Ann.

Sorry Nooshie, I've looked all over the place and can't get him at all.
Could he have used the Norris name?

I'm not even sure that his birth was registered! You have him in 1871, and his baptism at St Nicholas, Brighton, 5 October 1862, as Liddell. Father a Baker?
