Hello All,
Is there anyone who can give me any BMD information on a George Connock ? I have a copy of his marriage certificate which states he married a Sarah Gear in Preston, Somerset on 3 September 1843. It also states he was "under age" and that his father was a John Pilton (a Sawyer).
I don't have a birth or death date for George and am wondering why the change in surname.
I also don't have a birth or death date for Sarah Gear, her marriage certificate states her fathers name was Phillip.
Can anyone shed any light on these two individuals, whether from the census or other.
I would also love to make contact with anyone (Connocks or other) who are descendants of Frederick Connock (b.22.2.1844, Yeoville)and Eliza Bessey Gandy(b.7.1.1847 Southampton).

Is there a 1851 census for Somerset available?
I have a Frederick Connock, born 24.2.1844 to a George Connock and Sarah Gear and would like to see their household at the time of the 1851 census. I would be very grateful if someone could confirm that for me. I know they were married in Preston in 1843. Look forward to a reply.

Sorry Peter, the family do not appear in the 1851 census for Preston. Looking at the 1861 entry they appear to have a 10 year old son born Nursling Hampshire. Would suggest you try the Hampshire Board for a 1851 lookup. All the Best....Kris :D

whilst i have no definite link to the above mentioned connocks - my grandmother's maiden name was connock and i can trace things back to a william connock , born 1802 in preston plucknett. I suspect ( from parish records ) that there were lots of siblings. Let me know if this is of any interest

hi peter my great,great, granddad was william george connock born in1846 at sparkford yeovil ,might be a connection,
his wife was elizabeth and they had at least 4 children

Hi, believe my 2 x great uncle, Francis Chapman married Elizabeth Gear in 1841 of Phillip and Elizabeth Gear, they are found in 1841 census Sturminster Newton, Dorset, but only I daughter survived ,sadly the rest of the family died young
