Hannah was born 1828 in Norwich to Isaac and Sarah Pye.
She had an illegimate daughter in 1849, also Hannah.
In 1861 Hannah (1828) married Robert Eglington and had 2 sons, Robert and George.
Robert senior died in 1870.
I have the 1871 census for Hannah and her 2 sons but then can't find her at all. I have the sons details.
I can't find a death or remarriage so any help please. Hannah is my 3rd great grandmother so would love to know what happened to her.
Many thanks.
-
I see from Probate Index that husband Robert Eglington is said to have died 13/8/1870 and I can't find a death entry for him either??
Annette
-
No I couldn't find a death for him either, I trusted probate that he was dead lol. It's all very strange.
-
Not much help, he was here in 1869 and Hannah in 1870

Do you have the 1861 marriage cert? Was Robert a mariner?
IGNORE
Probate shows him as a licensed victualler
-
Thank you for responses, they did run the pub but in the 1871 census Hannah is then shown as a silk weaver and then disappears!

In the England, Norfolk Register of Electors, 1832-1915

Do you have the 1861 marriage cert?
A previous marriage to Mary Ann Burton, 25 August 1851, at Thorpe
Robert was a Carpenter. Described as Widower. Mary Ann a minor.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-6X5R-FK?i=124&cc=1416598
Is she the Mary Ann Egleton who died Norwich in March qtr 1861, age 28?
(Robert and Hannah then married in the next quarter)
Baptism of their daughter Amelia in 1854 at St Etheldreda, Norwich, Robert still a Carpenter
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-DRY3-2XV?i=766&cc=1416598
Amelia is with Hannah in 1871 as step daughter. In 1861 she seems to be with her grandparents Robert and Martha (though it says niece)
Robert himself, a possible baptism at St Margaret, Norwich, 18 Sep 1825 of Robert Egleton, son of Robert and Martha, father a Carpenter

As mentioned on an earlier thread, Amelia married in 1872
25 Dec 1872, also at Thorpe.
Age 18, father Robert Eglington, decd., Carpenter

Thank you, I did know about the girls but sadly they died, will try find out where they are buried, that might give some clues as to where Father Robert is buried.
Still no idea on Hannah, she seems to have just disappeared.
-
Do you know who Harriet Eglington was (witness at Amelia’s marriage)?
-
No I don't know who Harriet was, haven't really looked too much at Amelia as she isn't related to me, my line is Hannah's illegimate daughter before she married Robert.
Might have to broaden the search.

The boys were at the Hospital School in Norwich
Midsummer? 1871
Robt Eglington, born 14 April 1862
Time Out - Lady 1876
Xmas 1875
George Mk Eglington, born 30 June 1865
Time Out - Mids 1879
-
Are they the dates they were in the hospital school?
Where did you find these records please?
Would that indicate Hannah had died?
Many thanks for your help
-
They seem to be the dates they were there, with both boys leaving when about 14.
No info on parents in the registers, available on f.m.p, the children may have needed to be nominated or something like that :-\
Probably doesn't necessarily mean that Hannah had died, at any rate Robert's admission could have been just after the 1871 census.
-
Looks like the 2 boy's moved south.

Thank you for all the replies, I have spent hours looking through loads of documents and Hannah has quite simply disappeared. And also why was her husband's death not registered 🙈

The GRO sheets that online records have been taken from are typed, it is possible it was just missed by the person that listed them
-
That is very possibly true but what about Hannah, can't believe they would both be missed?
She definitely has disappeared early 1870's when both boys ended up in the National School.
-
Any idea who this is? Could she have changed her name? Dates fit.
Amelia Eglington 1827 1871 first name on this monument Earlham Norfolk
Eglington Amelia 44 Norwich 4b 89

Eglington Amelia 44 Norwich 4b 89
That one left a will proved 19 Dec 1871. It's online. She was a spinster, among others she names her sisters Caroline Louisa Eglington and Eliza Bishop.

How about..
Death, June 1878 Norwich 4b 63
Eagleton, Anna
age 50
Can't see any Eagleton possibilities in Norwich in the 1871 census, the two indexed in Kings Lynn district seem to be still alive in 1881.

Maybe worth getting the cert for that one to see who the informant was. Also Norwich has a quite good set of burials records maybe worth contacting them,
