This man marries at Sheffield Cathedral in 1833. Can anyone tell me the details on his marriage certificate? He may link into a long (and complicated) family tree.
Many thanks

You can go back into your first post and 'modify' it ;D

22 September 1833
William Booker Upson, bachelor, otp and Ann Widdison. spinster, otp, married by Banns. Both signed the register. Witnesses: Wm. Guest and Joseph Hudson.
Joseph Hudson is possibly a church official, as he is a witness to a number of marriages.

Liz -- you do realise that there won't be an actual marriage certificate don't you? Civil Registration with formal certificates did not begin in England until July 1837.
Prior to this date there are only Parish Registers (or Licences if the couple obtained one).
Hence no fathers' names will be shown in 1809 I'm afraid.
Is the William in the 1833 marriage the son of the one in the 1809 marriage?

Thanks for all your help. I had looked through the baptisms at Harthill and Ann Widdision born Woodall was one of the names I had found. Ann Upson gives her place of birth as Woodhall on the 1851, 1861 and 1881 censuses (all I have found so far)
William may well be the child of the 27th September 1809 marriage. The problem is he is baptised the same day, son of Ann Booker! So I think you can say strong possibility that James Upson is his father, but no more than that.
Thanks again
