Thanks everyone - Have got those two, and also Henri Ferdinand Wenger PETERKIN b. 1878 in Holborn, but without a father's name, I can't move forward. I found them on various Census returns with mother Emma, but no father. Really frustrating..... ??? ??? ??? Can't find them in Parish Records, so looks like I'll have to send for Henri Ferdinand's Birth Cert. Thanks again !! ;D ;D ;D

The family is in Essex in 1881 all listed as Wenger
RG11/1743 f95 p20
I doubt that the birth certificates will give a fathers name as the index indicates the births were registered as Peterkin and not 'Wenger with mmn Peterkin'

In 1881 Emmas occupation is crossed out
Have you considered the Louis Wenger occ Furrier . He is age 46 and living in same household as his mother Adelaide.
RG11 / 337 f23 p42
Could Emma's occupation be Furriers wife
-
Snap, Rosie posted - have typed out so posting also.....
Census 1881: Victoria Road Romford
RG11 - P 1743 / F 95 / Pg 20
Head: Emma WENGER 31, Married, F---------'s Wife, Mitcham, Surrey
Dau: Emma Louise WENGER 3, b London
Son: Louis WENGER 1, b London
Son" Henri Ferdinand WENGER 4m, b Romford Essex
Her occupation, has been struck out, begins with an F, doesn't look like Fisherman's, doesn't look like Farmer's. I thought, could be Fireman's…..but could it be 'Furrier'?
Which makes this chap appealing:
Census 1881: 14 Queens Square, St George the Martyr, Finsbury
RG11 - P 337 / F 23 / Pg 42
Head: Louis WENGER 46, married, Furrier, b Germany, Prussen?, British Subject
Mother: Adelaide WENGER 70, widow, b, {"}
Plus, 5 Lodgers, a cook, 2 servants
Cheers

I beleive I may be related to you. My great grandfather was Louis Peterkin/Wenger. Born November 1 1879 mother is Emma Peterkin of chapel Street bedford row. I also have memoriam for Henri in 1953 in st Pancras cemetery. Louis married Mabel guess. And moved to Canada in sometime after 1919 my grandfather Alexander was born May 30, 1919.
