Trove.com.au is a great resource for newspapers back to colonisation
Some info - GRO records say Williams mothers maiden name was Jackson
There is an Innisfail reference to a William Bagnell but no corresponding death record in QLD historical searches with Jackson as the mothers name - though these stop at 1988
Vic BDM also has no Jackson connection of deaths
Is there any more information Barb ie parents names , any siblings etc

Here is the live link to Trove, which includes the free to search digitised newspapers back to 1803. Trove is part of the National Library of Australia, and is funded via our federal government . https://trove.nla.gov.au/
Australia is a federation of six former British Colonies, and the BDM records (and many other matters) continue to be part of the individual institutions established in the 1800s by each of those colonies, (those six former colonies each still exist, are now known as States, each has their own parliaments). There is NO central BDM ...
Here is the live link to RChat's Australia Resources Board https://www.rootschat.com/forum/australia-resources-offers/
You will see that there are child boards, for each of the eight jurisdictions that are the federation.
The National Archives of Australia has lots of digitised passenger lists for arrivals in the 1900s, and you mention your chap was born in 1893, so if he came alone, by ship, he may well have come via Suez Canal or Cape of Good Hope, and his first port of arrival in Australia would likely be Fremantle. If so, here is a live link to help
http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/family-history/passenger-arrivals-lists-1897-to-1966/index.aspx
Please do not try 'trove.com.au' if it exists, it is not part of the National Library of Australia, which is a 'gov.au' website.

There is a Mr W BAGNELL, whose last address in England was 5 Duke St, Tutbury, Burton-on-Trent. He was aged 20, a passenger on the Ormuz, departing 18 March 1922 from London, ticket number 226, travelling 3rd class. He was a Labourer, contracted to land Fremantle (it is in Western Australia) and he was English.
The Ormuz arrived Fremantle, W.A 20 April 1922. Here is the passenger list lodged on arrival at Fremantle. http://soda.naa.gov.au/record/30151380/1
You have your chap as born April 1893, so if the above is your chap, he was recorded as aged 20 when boarding.

I think William BAGNELL born April 1893 was still in Twickenham, Middlesex in 1939. I think he was recorded as an 'inside & outside blindmaker Fitter & plain and needle hand. I think he was a married man.

William BAGNELL born Islington and aged 22 years 2 months enlisted at London in May 1915. His enlistment record shows his wife as Maud Rosina MEDHURST, married in 1914. He had previously been in the navy and deserted in 1912. You will find William and Maud living in Twickenham in 1939.

This sounds promising because there was a blind company owned by the family 'Bagnell Blinds' He must have gone to Australia after 1939
I know 100% from my mum he went to Australia and stayed there apart from a couple of visits back to the UK.
-
The chap with the Blinds in 1939 was a married man, and it is he whose widow (Maud Rose) handled his probate as per my reading of the probate index
Probate
BAGNELL William of 28 Unity Street Sheerness Kent died 24 March 1967

Still a novice at his family history stuff :)

1939
William and Maud's household included Ellen PATTERSON, a female, born 27 Nov 1858, a Widow, Old Age Pensioner.
William's dob on that 1939 document has his dob as 8 April 1893 and Maud's as 8 Nov 1895. Some of the others in the household are dedacted.
I am convinced that Debra and I are posting about the same man
I have not found any hints that he ever resided in Australia. What was the surname for his sister who travelled to Australia to handle Probate here. I am aware that the concept of each Probate court handling their section of a Probate and then sealing it and forwarding to the next court is of very long standing, across jurisdictions in various nations. There would not be any need for a person to actually travel from UK to any of the states in Australia to handle a Probate matter.
JM :) :)
ADD
Sorry, but I have not found where a Mrs Elizabeth RAYBOULD travelled to Australia ...

Thank you JM,
I believe you may have found Ellen Jackson/Bagnell, its a long shot... her daughters didn't know where she had moved too. Just need to find out where the name Patterson came from.
-
She was widowed when her children were young. She may well have re-married and become widowed again.

1901

Yes, agree with Jamjar.
1911 has her as a widow, Ellen PATERSON, Mother, aged 52, and a fur sewer, of her present marriage, 10 born alive, 9 still living, 1 died. - And now for the confusing bit ... 34 completed years for present marriage... OR could be 3 has been blotted out, and it is actually only 4 years for that elusive Patterson (or Peterson, or Paterson) marriage. ... handwriting is not copperplate, only one 't' ,
also on the document
Ellen BAGNELL (JM notes or could be Bagsidl etc) Daughter, 15, single, Machinist, Under clothing ( JM notes that its a bit of a guess by me)
Both born Islington, London (JM carefully notes that the scribbler wrote 'Linden' :D)
Signature is Ellen Paterson. :) Someone has carefully transcribed 'fur sewer' as fur turner ;D

I can’t see an appropriate London death, after 1939, for an Ellen Paterson/Patterson.
Marriage for the daughter from the 1911?:
