I have a Mary Davies on the 1939 Register - she's the right one living with her parent.
Above her name are the surnames 'Clement' and 'Beckman'
There is no record of her marrying anyone with the name Clement(s).
I guess she may have changed her name to Clement as there is no record of her marrying a Mr Clement(s).
She married ….. Beckman in 1948.
Who would have added those names after 1939 and why?

The register was used by the National Health Service for the next 30 years for their records. So they updated it as things changed.
Regards
Chas

Where did you find the marriage, I can't see it on FreeBMD?

Was she Mary Clement(s) when she married Mr Beckman (can’t find any combination of those names?)

The alterations would have been done by both the ID Registration authorities (until 1952) and by the NHS from 1948 until 1991 when they changed to a computerised system.
NHS changes are usually in green ink and marriages have CR283 and a date nearby, IDR changes may be in one of several colours (I've seen black, blue and red) and usually have a date, a three letter ED code plus M nearby.
