Any info on Harry or other relatives greatly received 😊

Hi Sarah
Have you looked at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website: cwgc.org
It has an excellent searchable database and a lot of information on many of the fallen.

Was he Harry Cyril Coy born about 1894?
There is a Harry Cyril Coy in the 2nd Battalion of the Oxforshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry who sadly died on 21 October 1914 'France and Flanders'. Service number 9842. I realise this may not be him.
Residence shown as Chipping Warden, Oxfordshire = enlisted at Banbury. -- born in Wardington.
Father also Harry Coy.

Hi Rosie
Yes this is him!
I am just stuck now and don’t know where to go.
I would love to see a photo of him or find any living relatives that would know anything about him 😊
Thank you

Hi Sarah and welcome to Rootschat :)
I spotted this in the Banbury Advertiser 17 December 1914, it gives his date of birth.
-
Are you on ancestry or findmypast? Census shows him in 1901 and 1911.
His mother Ada had died by the time he was seven in 1901.
By 1911 father Harry has remarried and Harry has at least two step brothers and three new half sisters.
FreeBMD has dates for births and marriages.
Just noticed there's a thread about this family from 2011 as well.
-
If you have access to Ancestry you could try contacting some of the tree members and see if they can help you get in touch with any living relatives .....As he was born 1894 Banbury you would look for him on the 1901 Census ..as you have not seen any here it is

His medal card:http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D1983360 shows he deployed to France right at the beginning of the war on 14 August 1914 which suggests he was either a returning reservist or an already serving regular soldier (there may be more to establish here).
You can download the war diary (just have to register) at http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C14052864. The action in which he fell claimed, among others, 61 men killed that day and took place in the area of Langemarck and Zonnebeke north aast of Ypres.
