Up until recently, the only locational data I had on my Irish roots were from the English 1851 census, which said that my 2X GG's Hugh Connor and Mary McMany, were from Louth, Ireland. They did not appear on the 1841 census, so I guessed they had come to the UK due to the Potato Famine. Their 1st child Margaret, was born in Sunderland in 1846.
Having taken an Ancestry Autosomal DNA test, I have discovered numerous Irish connections but cannot connect anything to my tree. What I have discovered is that my closest contacts ancestors are from Monaghan and so I believe that Louth was my 2X great grandfather's location and Monaghan was Mary's. I do know that Mary's father was Bryan (Bernard), as he appeared on her 2nd marriage certificate in 1883 when she married a Michael Dooley, in Durham, England.
My Monaghan connection sent me a photo of a headstone that contains the surname of one of her Ancestors Ward and includes a McEnaney. I have no Wards on my Family tree, so I need to find a marriage connection. The key locations seem to be Ardragh and Raferagh, Co. Monaghan, which I believe are about a mile from each other.
Can an expert on this location, please help me to locate the birth of Mary circa 1823, her marriage to Hugh Connor, the birth and death of her father Bryan, etc.,
I am excited to find a potential, specific location, but checking Ancestry's Irish records, have thrown nothing up. I am hoping that someone with knowledge of this area, can have better luck.

Thanks for the info. It seems that we do have evidence of a connection between the Wards and McEnaneys, through marriage. Unfortunately they are all relatively recent dates and my Irish Ancestors are in the 1820, where the info. is sparse or non-existent.

Hoping rather than presuming.my DNA connection has it on her tree, I now need to establish, whether the McEnaneys are mine.
