Hi all!
I'm trying to find information about Mary, born art. 1810 in possibly Wrockwardine, Salop (or in the Shropshire /Staffordshire area.)
She married Andrew Foizer/Foyser/Foysey/Phoysey/Forzey around 1827-9.
I can find them on the 1841 census' but no mention of their marriage records.
Would appreciate any help! Cheers!

Where do you have them in 1841, could you please give the details
-

Would this be the Foyzey family on the 1861?
Andrew Foizey 52
Mary Foizey 51
Samuel Foizey 20
Mercy Foizey 14
Edward Foizey 11
Benjamin Foizey 7
RG 9 Piece 2071 Folio 66 Page 29
Is the above is correct then looking at the GRO it would appear that Benjamin's birth record shows his mother's maiden name as Boukley.
Need to see if there is a marriage of an Andrew Foyzey and a Mary Boukley.

Wow! That was fast! Yes, that’s the family in 1861. Didn’t see the boukley maiden name.
Not sure if Phisee could pass as phoysey/foysey or Foyzer as it’s spelt in 1870s!

Gawd.... :P so it could be Mary Boukley/Bowkley or Bonkley!?

You have to remember that a lot of the Church clerks/vicars etc wrote down what they heard and you also have to take into consideration the regional accents. They may have been literate but could they spell? I never cease to be amazed by the various spelling of names, particularly the more unusual ones.

Yes, of course! Fully understand. :)
Still can’t find a marriage registry though.
Did the one you find have anymore information? I’m trying the trace back Mary’s family ...and I was hoping for a relatives name being mentioned lol!
-
Unfortunately it was only the Banns so no other details.
There is a baptism for a Mary Buckley in Lilleshall 1 December 1811 parents George and Rosannah - image on FindMyPast.

I have just discovered that the marriage Register for Lilleshall is on FindMyPast but there is no marriage for Andrew to Mary so they either didn't get married or married in a different church somewhere else and the reading of the Banns took place in Lilleshall because it was possibly Mary's (or may be even Andrew's) Parish. It was not uncommon, if the couple came from two different parishes, for the Banns to be read in both Churches.
Sorry about that.

Thanks for both replies!
Although now I’m not sure which one it is!! ;D
As both Andrew and Mary are listed as coming from wombridge and wrockerdine, salop on the 1851 & 1861 census’, I figured the Lilleshall one was then.
But the spelling of the other registry is closer to Andrews surname. However their first child was christening in Dec 1829 (I think) so if they did marry in Sept 1829, someone was probably showing a bit!! Lol!!!
