Birth certificate for James will give his parents names - where do you have his exact date of birth from please?
If you can't find a birth registration for him does he appear on 1901 census with anyone?
-
8th august 1897 can not
order birth cert without his parents name got info of birth from Blanchard they were trying to trace my uncles family
-
Maybe a little too old but there is a James age 6 born Burnley with widowed mother Alice and siblings in 1901.
-
There is a baptism for James born 8 Aug 1897 mother Alice.
-
This could be his birth registration
Sep 1897 Burnley Union
James Disley but no mothers maiden name shown so perhaps Alice wasn't a widow :-\
Also George William born Sep 1894 Burnley Union
-
i can say i dont have a clue

National School Admissions:

James Disley, date of birth 8th August 1897. Address: 1 Spencer Court. No parents name given. He left 31st January 1908

Maybe a little too old but there is a James age 6 born Burnley with widowed mother Alice and siblings in 1901.
Using details of possible siblings on 1901 Census, there are marriages for Amelia and Alice.
9th May 1903 Burnley
Amelia Disley,18, father Edward Waddington
Patrick Rogan,25
One of the witnesses was Margaret Alice Disley.
Patrick Rogan is on 1901 Census as a boarder in Alice Disley's house.
-
11th July 1903 Burnley
Margaret Alice Disley,19. Father: Edward Warrington
Charles Turner,21, French Polisher
Witnesses were Patrick and Amelia Rogan.
National School Admissions:
St Peters Primary, Burnley
Margaret Alice Disley, date of birth 9th August 1887, Father: Edward Waddington, 9 Hill Top Passage.

Name not quite right :-\1891 Roberts Square, Burnley
Alice Disney,34, born Manchester, married
Matilda,8, Burnley
Amelia,7,Burnley
Margaret,5, Wigan

There's an interesting history to be found
Alice Disley
Edward Waddington
Banns Dec 1883 Burnley (actually read three times)
Not noted, but can't find a trace of a marriage after the banns
Then
Q1 1906 Burnley Vol 8e p382
Alice Disley
Martha Ann Duckworth
Ambrose Snowden
Edward Waddington
-
Edward married before in 1875 to Mary Ellen Barker - definitely him as his address is 9 Hill Top, the same as given on Margaret Alice Disley's school admission
He potentially married again in 1890, to a Sarah Ellen Parkinson
-
On the 1939 register, james living in Burnley gives his d.o.b. as 8 Aug 1897.
-
James christening in 1899 only lists mother as Alice Disley.
No fathers name.
But in 1911 James age 14, is living as a boarder in the house of Thomas Disley in Burnley.
-
His birth registration has no mothers name, but you should still be able to purchase it.
Name: Mother's Maiden Surname:
DISLEY, JAMES -

You do need the birth cert and James's marriage cert may help
I have been fiddling around re Alice and agree with sgf28 that this looks Alice and earlier children in 1891
Alice Disney,34, born Manchester, married
Matilda,8, Burnley
Amelia,7,Burnley
Margaret,5, Wigan
I found bapts of possible earlier children
7 May 1876 Christ Church, Ince, Lancashire, England
Elizabeth Ann Disley - [Child] of Robert Disley & Alice
Born: 14 Feb 1876
Abode: Lloyds Row
Occupation: Collier
Baptism: 14 Nov 1877 St Peter, Burnley, Lancashire, England
Thomas Disley - [Child] of Robert Disley & Alice
Abode: Hallis St
Occupation: Collier
Baptism: 28 Mar 1880 St Peter, Burnley, Lancashire, England
George Wetton Dizley - [Child] of Robert Dizley & Alice
Abode: Picup St.
Occupation: Collier
They were all listed with mothers maiden name Wallworth on the GRO Birth Index Elizabeth Ann died in 1876, George died in 1881 and I think this is Thomas living with his grandparents in 1881 in Burnley
Thomas Wallworth 62 Coal Miner b Blackburn
Betty Wallworth 68 B Wigan
Thomas Dixeby 4 Grandson b Burnley
William Gregory 40 ?-in-law b Wigan
And out of interest Thomas and Betty had a child Alice in 1871 livng in Ince in Makerfield who might be Alice Disley in later census years :-\
Thomas Walworth 50
Elizabeth Walworth 55
Thomas Walworth 20
Alice Walworth 15
It may be a coincidence but in 1881 there was a Robert Disley b 1844 Wigan - a coal miner boarding in Habergham Eaves, Burnley . He is listed as married
Could this be the first of Alice's relationships and the reason she took the surname Disley???
Alice's daughter Matilda Disley age 21 married 17 Oct 1903 at St Peter, Burnley to Thomas Bithel and her father is listed as Robert Bithel - Collier
I can't see a Disley/Walworth marriage is the area :-\

I think the Thomas that James was boarding with in 1911 was his brother Thomas I mentioned before - who lived with the Walworth family in 1881
-
Just found on Anc the transcription of a marriage and I wonder if Robert's surname has been mistranscribed :-\ There is a marriage on FreeBMD in the Easington 1874 Sept Qtr 10a 646 for a Robert Disley/Alice Walworth
Alice Walworth Age: 19
Marriage Date: 31 Aug 1874 - Wingate, Durham,
Father: Thomas Walworth
Spouse: Robert Dilley age 27 father John Dilley

If you purchase the birth certificate online from www.gov.uk, you do not need anymore information.
You select the item you want, and you purchase it. Done!

But in 1911 James age 14, is living as a boarder in the house of Thomas Disley in Burnley.
James is enumerated as 'brother' not boarder to Thomas, as is George W. DISLEY aged 17.

So presumably, Alice Disley and Edward Waddington's marriage in 1883 never happened, despite the banns being read three times, because it became apparent one or both of them was not free to marry after all. Edward presumably stayed around a while and fathered the younger of Alice's children (or some of them)
He then may have married someone else in 1890 (which would account for Alice being alone in 1891)
James arrives later - father unclear
1906 Alice and Edward are back together and marry, only for her to die the next year
-
hello sorry what do you mean Alice and Edward were back together then she died sorry iam new to this
