Hi,
Looking to see if anyone has any information on the McCarthy Family.
Joseph McCarthy born 1883, Married to Catherine Murphy 15 oct 1907.
Had a son named John McCarthy b 1919 who moved to England. Any other info anyone may know about?

Dec 1919 births are possibly registered under 1920 so won't be released until next year.
The only John McCarthy showing for Dec 1919 doesn't have a mother's maiden name of Murphy and isn't available to view yet.
Still no luck find Joseph's birth or 1901 Census.

That is where you have a problem! Born 2 days before New Year, in that his Birth was most likely Registered in early 1920 and only Registered Births up to end of 1919 are online!

Could this be the 1919 Dec birth for John McCarthy with mother's maiden name McCarthy.
I'm a bit concerned because this couple don't appear to have any children after 1913, could they have moved?
Something just doesn't feel right...

Brilliant! Thank you, was confused at first as it said mother’s birth surname was McCarthy but clicked on the transcript and it said Murphy, I’m sure my family will be pleased :)

Mother's Birth name is wrong.... it should be Murphy.

Had it in my head that Joseph was born June 1883, not sure where I’ve got that idea as 1911 census only says he was 28 at the time, time to start searching again!🤯🤯

The only birth is a Joseph McCarthy born 1882 but the father is William, mother Elizabeth Lambert, the only way this could be correct is if the 1907 marriage cert is incorrect and his father is not James.
Its possible the church record of his marriage has his mother's name recorded but that isn't online, a transcript might be on RootsIreland but that is a subscription site.

Hi, yes, John and Lillian's son is my Grandfather, who is still alive. They had 6 Children I believe . :)

They may have had eight children, across the registration districts of Birmingham, West Bromwich and Wednesbury between 1949 and 1963.

Replying to the person looking for Joseph McCarthy who married Catherine Murphy 15th OCt 1907.
My grandfather was brought up by them. HIs Mother Bridget Murphy died in 1903 and was a sister to Catherine. He was Edward Goff. Any information about any of the McCarthys would be interested?
