I have Thomas ladbury at age 13 as an inmate of the Alexander Palleson orphans asylum. ..possibly in the west midlands. Does anybody know where this was or anything about it?

In 1881 Alexander Palleson was the "head" of the Royal Albert Orphanage on Henwick Road.

His father Thomas died 1875 but his mother and his 4 sisters are still in Worcs in 1881.
Thomas Ladbury & Martha Taylor married Birmingham June qtr 1861

Thankyou. ....I presume he must have been given a place there because his father had died. It was the word asylum that had me puzzled as I knew he went on to marry and lived till he was about 80.

If you look at the 1881 image it says address was Asylum Lane - orphan asylum - but I wonder if that was an enumerator error and should have been orphanage

On the 1886 map it is called Royal Albert Orphan Asylum.
