Title: What happened to Sarah
Post by: wiilams83 on Sunday 09 February 20 21:50 GMT (UK)
I’m looking for information into the death of Sarah childs :

I know Sarah’s husband Samuel Childs died in 1844 and is living with family in 1841 census being    St Milborough Stoke

Samuel Childs 60 1781 and William Childs 1816

I’m sure Samuel and Sarah married in 1796 Burwarton Shropshire.

I’m not sure what happed to Sarah Childs..Can anyone help me ?

She may have died pre 1837

You say “I know Samuel Childs died 1844” - nothing on freebmd to support that.  In fact the only Samuel Childs death 1841-1851 was in Leominster 1851

If Samuel was born between 1780 -1784 (1841 ages were rounded down) is it likely he married in 1796?

Are you assuming his wife was Sarah from that marriage entry or do you have son William’s baptism as confirmation

You say surname was Childs with an s.  However - still nothing on freebmd under Child in 1844 but presume he is the June 1844 death indexed as Childes?

He was 70 when he died so born approx 1774 making a 1796 marriage more feasible (see my reply above)

Certainly looks as though Sarah died pre-1837 - nothing on freebmd 1837-1841

If she’s not on the 1841 and freebmd have no death 1837-1841 - then yes - she must have died before civil registration

A Sarah Childs 61 (bc.1777) buried 8/6/1839 Kemberton, Shropshire - abode Madeley.

This is the only burial of a Sarah Child/s of right kind of age and in the right sort timeframe.

However, I don't believe that records for Burwarton after 1812 are available online and Sarah could have been buried there.

Samuel was living in St Milborough Stoke in 1841 which came under Ludlow RD.  His death in 1844 was registered Ludlow.

If Sarah died 1839 I would have expected her death to be reg in Ludlow although that doesn't always follow
