Hello,
A few years ago I found a photo on the internet of my Granny, Fanny Mullins, standing at the level crossing gate. I believe this was at Winkston, near Peebles, where she was the crossing keeper.
Unfortunately (and stupidly), I didn’t make a note of where this was or print off the photo.
I’m pretty certain she was called Frances on the photo.
I’ve tried several times to find it, to no avail.
Can anyone help, please?
Thank you,
Shona

What year was the photo taken (roughly) and how old was Granny at the time ie little girl or grown up?
If you search for Winkston photos and railway crossing some old black and white images come up.
Sorry if you have already tried that but if not a look through those may find the one you want.

Was it on somebody's family tree?

Fanny Philips L Bald married in 1924 to William Livings Mullins in Midlothian
Fanny was born 1896 Stow Midlothian and died 1980 Peebles

Hello, thanks for the help!
Granny was an adult when the photo was taken, late middle age I would say. I’m sure I remember her wearing a ‘pinny ’ in the photo and wearing glasses.
I’ve tried ‘Googling’ variants of Winkston, railways, Peebles railway etc, but the photo hasn’t ever reappeared!
I’m certain the photo wasn’t within a family tree.
I’m so grateful for the prompt responses!

Do you live in that area Shona?
Maybe the local library would be able to help or perhaps a local family history group if there is one.
Hope you find it :)
PS Was it a black and white or colour photo?

Since I don't know what Fanny looks like did you look here, there dozens of photos?

Hello and thank you to all the people who have responded so far.
I don’t live in the area, I live in the South of England, but may follow up the local history group idea.
I’ve looked at the ‘railscot’ photos.....no luck!
I’ll keep trying!!
Thanks,
Shona

P.S the photo was a black and white.......taken maybe 1950s onwards? Granny died in 1980 in Peebles.
