To Ladyhawk, that could shed a bit of light on the subject, I have been off the impression that David Powell came from Mathon and have probably been looking in the wrong place, I have the name of his wife as Susanna, so it could be the one I am trying to place, thank you.  jesse123

Hello Jesse -- I am so pleased that you started a fresh topic for Mary Ann Powell - to take HER ancestors (and yours of course) backwards.

I see you have already obtained HER parents' names and their marriage -- so now you are up to finding the parents of David Powell and Susannah Loveridge.

It may confuse things (and you) - if you bring Reuben back into this thread.

As Ladyhawk has said -- for anyone interested, there is a separate topic for Reuben Jones (who married Mary Ann Powell).

I came to a grinding halt on that one I'm afraid - but if anyone else wants to have a go - see the link kindly provided by Ladyhawk.

Mabel -- Please forgive me, but Jesse is trying to track Mary Ann Powell backwards prior to her marriage to Reuben Jones.

No problem - I've posted 1851 which I hope helps. May have misunderstood the message which seemed to suggest she was looking for Mary's husband's name, bu I take it she has that.

From census Susanna Powell’s  pob Cradley Herefordshire and on the 1851 census her mother Ann Loveridge is with the family so this looks as if it might be her baptism

Susannah Loveridge
Baptism 22 Apr 1810 Cradley
Father    Richard Loveridge Mother Ann
Residence   East and West Cradley, Hereford

I cannot find a baptism for David Powell in Herefordshire either at approximately the correct time. I have used 1800 plus or minus 5 years and even checked Non-Conformist baptisms.

I am wondering if a batch of parish registers is missing, or water damaged perhaps. On each census he gives Herefordshire as his birth county - the place name differing only the once from Stoke Lacy to Bishops Frome.

Jesse - we have another mystery I'm afraid -- but at least you now have the names of Mary Ann Powell's parents, so you have gone back another step.

Pennines thank you for your input, as you say it is hard to get all the facts, but if we are doing a step at a time at least we have got something, thank you for your time, I will keep looking. jesse123
