Hello to all rootschatters!
Some time ago, I posted a message about my great grandfather Issac Johnston on the Co Armagh page because he lived there. However, according to 1901 and 1911 census he was born in Co Tyrone. His birth date would be 1857.... I wonder if it is possible to obtain his birth certificate. I am looking for his mother's name. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

How many Johnston threads do you have?
There are bits about them in one county, bits about them in another county and bits about them in yet another county, can these not be collated into a lineage on one post?

I have lots and lots of Johnston threads, on both sides of my family !!
However, Isaac Johnston & his family lived in the city of Armagh on the Mall. It just so happens that I discovered his parents, William & Rachel Johnston, living on a farm in Middletown, Co Armagh. That is about 5 miles from Armagh city. In the 1901 & 1911 census, Isaac is living in Armagh city but he has a list of siblings living in Middletown.
On both census Isaac was born in Co Tyrone and all the others in Middletown, Co ARmagh. That is why I would like to find out why Isaac was born in Tyrone!!

Makes sense.... Rachel W did have kin just over the border in Tyrone. She could easily have gone to a family member to give Birth.
3 counties meet there.

Are you sure about the parents of this particular Isaac Johnston, a carpenter & builder who lived in Linen Hall St & The Mall Armagh. I hadn't been able to find the mother's name myself. I only know that his father's name was William. Isaac had a brother Joseph Johnston also born in Tyrone in August 1863. Joseph enlisted in the RIC in Feb. 1882 and mainly served in Belfast. I calculated his age from his RIC service record. Joseph was married in March 1889 in Belfast to Elizabeth Drew. Isaac is the only sibling I'm sure about. Are all the siblings on this forum definite.
