I'd forgotten this (or hadn't noticed) that the Archers thread was still running. Time we started afresh ...
What's happened to Lynda Snell ? Someone get me up to date please .... I've not heard the programme for a few weeks.
-
Had to google it, Lydart - but explosion in kitchen at Grey Gables, Lynda heroically rescued by Freddie, but at the time of my googling was seriously injured.
:o
-
OH NO !!!!!
We all love the awful but well meaning Lynda.
(Memo to self .... get the septic tank pumped out soon !!)
-
At the time the kitchen was closed for a leaking soil pipe problem to be solved.
-
Cause of explosion unknown at the moment. Lynda is currently in intensive care with severe burns - no better last night but apparently no worse. The Archers will be diminished if she dies :'(
-
There was also a workman called Blake injured. I may be wrong, but I thought Freddie recognised the name when he was told about him when he was at the hospital.
-
But, - (at time of last listening) Ambridge remains a Corona Virus free zone!
As I recall, they always used to have characters in 'The Bull' suddenly discussing snippets of major news? Isn't that how they introduced Princess Diana's death? Or am I wrong??
Romilly ;D
-
I believe they always had/have a small section that can be easily removed and a major news piece inserted. As you say Romlilly it is usually a discussion between characters, though don't think it is always in the Bull. Not sure why they haven't done that yet about Coronavirus.
-
I can remember it being the Sid Perks character a few times, - perhaps he lived near Pebble Mill, - and so could pop in easily?
Romilly ;D
-
Poor Lynda! I haven't listened for quite some time now as all the younger voices seemed to be changing and I couldn't keep track.
-
I get rather confused at times with the younger voices - both male and female - they all do sound rather alike!
The explosion was probably Blake slicing into a gas main, and Gavin (in charge) not supervising his labour properly. Will Grey Gables survive as a business? Will Oliver put it up for sale?
I suspect Philip'll get the blame, and that wedding to Kirstie will be postponed yet again.
Like many others, Lynda Snell is a favourite character, she seemed to fill the gap left by "Aunt Laura" as a major manager of Ambridge.
-
And don't forget Marjorie Antrobus! ('The Dog Lady':-)
Romilly.
-
Who could ever forget the redoubtable Marjorie Antrobus?
-
I couldn't forget Marjory Antrobus but had forgotton about Aunt Laura. Just found this
"In 1985, Aunt Laura fell in a ditch and listeners were treated to her forlorn cries while owls hooted overhead. She was found alive and spent a week in hospital being treated for pneumonia, but died of heart failure soon after being discharged on St Valentine's Day, while her friend Freddy Danby read to her from Moby-Dick."
So is Lynda going to die while Robert reads it??
-
Spooky coincidence janan!!
No doubt the script writers will have ferreted that snippet out!
Romilly :D
(Btw, - wasn't Lillian's monologue to Lynda great?)
-
wasn't Lillian's monologue to Lynda great?
Yes beautifully done, as their monologues tend to be
Jan
-
What was the name of the Pargetter matriarch ? She was fairly formidable ...
-
Julia!
-
Julia!
And she came from Lewisham! (South London:-)
Romilly.
-
Julia!
And she came from Lewisham! (South London:-)
Romilly.
Birth name Joan
-
Agree that the "Lilian" monologue was very effective. (Had to catch up via "Omnibus Edition")
-
I suppose that one way to avoid catching Coronavirus, would be to move to Ambridge?
Still not a mention of it there, - although it seems to be everywhere else in the UK!
Romilly :-\
-
Shall we hire a charabanc? And all go together?
-
What a good idea!! Count me in!
Romilly ;D ;D
-
... all aboard!
-
Ticket for one please.
-
I live nearby anyway so pick me up last with 4 hens and an opionated cat ;D
-
There have not been any topical inserts in EastEnders nor Coronation Street either.
Martin
-
There have not been any topical inserts in EastEnders nor Coronation Street either.
Martin
And now both have suspended all current filming...
Btw, was that a new actress playing Lynda Snell in last night's episode? (It didn't sound like her?)
Romilly.
-
Relistened and I think it's her voice - just an octave lower to indicate her pain and the effect of the drugs
-
I wasn't sure at first, but think it probably was the original. Must go and have a look in the "Radio Times", at the week's cast list, to check.... back in a bit
No-one listed for the character of Linda Snell???
TY
-
Oh no!
They're not going to use the accident as a means of changing actresses are they? And pass the change of voice off as being down to 'smoke inhalation damage'?
Romilly :o
-
I hope not. Although Linda was heard today, there's no actor listed for the part next week in Radio Times, either. Possibly just to keep up the suspense ... remember, Lilian pretended not to have a mirror with her.... but Carol Boyd'd be a very hard act to follow...
-
I do hope they don't kill her off /change actresses!
Linda's such an integral part of Ambridge, - even Prince Charles made a point of talking to her, when he visited the Set...
Romilly ;D
-
Just saw this:
BBC The Archers
Statement from Jeremy Howe, Editor of The Archers regarding Coronavirus.
“For the time being we have enough episodes recorded to keep taking listeners to Ambridge as usual for the weeks ahead but like everyone else we are faced with an unprecedented situation.
We’re working on plans for beyond this given there are significant challenges and the safety and wellbeing of our production team and cast are paramount. We’re sure listeners will understand this and we’ll update as plans become clearer.”
-
And no mention of the oldies on 'lock-down' or panic buying at the village shop
-
Will the script writers introduce a "Bobby Ewing in the shower" moment to deal with the missing pandemic?
-
I'm beginning to think they are deliberately avoiding Coronavirus. Not a bad idea given that it is the main topic of conversation everywhere else! Perhaps the explosion is standing proxy for the pandemic.
Jan
-
Does anyone know how far in advance the episodes are recorded?
-
The Archers website suggests 3 to 6 weeks after recording https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/5xGwGj4NgfGRJ1B2mFqg6QM/frequently-asked-questions
-
They might ration them to, say, three per week instead of six ?
I don't have TV but my neighbour tells me that things like Eastenders and other soapy programmes are going to stop filming, and will reduce the number shown, to eek them out.
I forecast we are in for a LOT of repeats ... I heard Radio 4 is going to repeat 'The History of the World in 100 objects' .... looking forward to that !
-
A repeat of 'Cabin Pressure' would be fun. :D
-
There's a letter in ' The Guardian' Newspaper today, - suggesting that we all move to Ambridge, - to avoid Coronavirus!
Romilly ;D

Romilly ;D
Yes, I saw that and wondered if it was from someone on this thread! :)
Jan
-
I'm sure not - just as usual, we thought of it first!
Ah, sitting outside the "B"(ull) with a generous glass of red wine, and others from the "Archers thread", our charabanc safely parked by the green, the late afternoon sun shining on the windows of the Village Shop......
... we're all safely there, aren't we?

I haven't had a Ploughman's supper for years but I fancy one with that wine- I'm sure Wayne could rustle one up

It's raining here, - it has been all day, - but the sun always shines in Ambridge! :-)
I wonder if Lillian will revert to 'The Bull', as a tribute to Lynda?
Romilly.
-
Well done Romilly - we read it here first!
-
As I say, we all really ought to be credited for all the plot development we are ahead with! So glad it's back to "The Bull"
-If Susan and Neil have been sending home clips of Neil's dancing from their holiday abroad (forgot quite where) how come they seem to be managing flights etc when other holiday firms seem to have been "abandoning" holiday makers? Could that be the first mention of Coronavirus on the show?
Actually, being radio, and the number of two handed scenes there are in the Archers, it'd probably be quite easy to carry on recording when all other "soaps" are falling by the wayside, wouldn't it?
TY
-
Golly!! Phillip!!
Who'd have thought it? I didn't see that one coming!!!
Romilly :o :o :o
-
Golly!! Phillip!!

Romilly :o :o :o
I had to re-listen to that bit as I thought I'd misheard! I can believe it of Gavin but Philip!!?
Jan
-
Ooooh what a shocker :o
Is he going to turn out to be another Rob ?, nice on the outside but bad underneath
-
Poor Kirsty:-(
I doubt she has any idea...!
Romilly ::)
-
?? I missed Friday's episode, - can I wait until the Sunday omnibus?
-
?? I missed Friday's episode, - can I wait until the Sunday omnibus?
It'll give you something to look forward to! ;D
It's right near the end, - so you'll be sitting on the edge of your chair...
Romilly ;D ;D ;D
-
Okay, I'll "wait and anticipate".
TY
-
Let us know your thoughts on it tomorrow TY...
Romilly :)
-
Oooh! That's a change of character! Kirsty: get out while you can!!!
-
They're not married yet, are they?
Someone ought to tell her!!
Romilly 8)
-
I think they got married while Grey Gables was exploding.
-
The schedule is changing...….no Archers on Fridays for the foreseeable.
Re-listened to yesterday's episode ………….did he really say "horses"...…... :o
-
Sounded like horses to me, but I seem to have misled myself about them getting married already.
-
I also thought he said horses - presumably his workers :-\
-
I also thought he said horses - presumably his workers :-\
Yes, he said horses. I assume because they were talking about the captive workers in public. I'm still not sure this is at all in character for Phillip.
-

But where are the captive 'slaves' being kept?
Do we think they might be hidden away in a quiet corner of Brian and Jenny's former home? (Was it Home Farm?). We've never heard anything from the new owners...?
Romilly.

I think a flat was mentioned. Could well be part of Home Farm house!
Jan
-
Yes, - I was thinking lots of room there to put them in a flat/barn/caravan/quiet corner...:-(
And have we ever heard anything from the new owners? Are they baddies too??
Romilly :-*
-

Romilly :-*
I don't recall hearing much about them, so they may be up to anything.....
Jan
-
What a time, with all this about Philip and Gavin's dodgy ways, to cut us down to five episodes only!
-
There is a letter in The Times today from someone extremely concerned that nobody in Ambridge seems even aware of the Covid-19 pandemic. They are all still in the pub and have no loo paper crisis. He does say though that when they do find out the programme will be boring.
-
So upsetting that scene with Philip and Blake:-(((
Blake sounds so vulnerable:-(
Romilly :'(
-

Romilly :'(
Yes he did poor lad. It was a very well done scene. Phillip sounded positively menacing :o
Jan
-
It's like listening to Rob again.....quite chilling. :o
-
I'd assumed the flat he's keeping his "workers" in would be in the seediest area of Borchester! When this storyline breaks in Ambridge in the future he'll be hung, drawn and quartered.
Adam's really sounding very stressed again, isn't he?
-
As they have several weeks of the programme "in the can", the virus is not going to catch up until we're back enjoying freedom again, especially as they are dropping one episode per week. I'm surprised they haven't 'cut in' something about it along the way.
-
I think Philip is planning to do a runner...
That sounded a bit like a pre-emptive farewell to Kirsty... It must have given him quite a turn to find Kirsty going through his invoices!!!
Romilly.

A 'cut in' might not be possible as the scripts would need rewriting to take account of all the changes in our lives.
-
But in "the old days" they often put an insert in between a couple of characters, to refer to some important event. (Must've been the only pub left in the country that was open for that champagne!)
TY
-
No Archers this evening .......
:'( :'( :'(
-
Just read that Ambridge is going to stop being a 'CoronaVirus Free Zone' on the 4th May.
It took that long to reach there...!
Romilly :-\
-
Goodness ! That was dramatic .... poor Freddie ....
-

I missed it!
What happened??
Romilly :o
-
He went to visit Lynda .... and you can hear it on iPlayer .... !!
-
Goodness ! That was dramatic .... poor Freddie ....

What happened??
Romilly :o
A very well acted scene from Lynda, talking to Freddie. You need to listen to it :'(
-
I will!!
(Just as soon as I've finished cooking:-)
Thanks for the tip off. Am I the only one confused about time today?
Romilly 8)
-
Having very recently gone through a similar experience I find the hospital conversations and emotions very moving and authentic.
-
I agree Pejic .... very well done indeed.
I felt a bit sniffy listening to that .... extremely well acted.
-
We'd anticipated that something similar would result, after Lilian wouldn't find a mirror for Lynda. Freddie will somehow find some way to help her, I suspect.
-
I was wondering if Freddie might stumble into 'Blake' during his hospital visit, - and recognize him from his time inside?
But perhaps I've just got an overactive imagination??
Romilly ;D ;D
-
With the track record of all the Archers followers on here for anticipating storylines, you could well be right!
-
Sounds quite feasible to me Romilly :)
Jan
-
Hopefully something will come to light when Roy visits Blake?
Perhaps Blake will confide in Roy? (And Philip's dastardly deeds will start to unravel?)
I bet the denouement comes on Thursday, - the new 'Cliffhanger' night!!
Romilly 8)
-
Its not really cliffhanger night .... its just because of You-Know-What, the Beeb are eeking out the episodes they have 'in the can' .... so that actors don't have to risk travel and being close to people.
-
Well, - we'll have to wait until Sunday for the next Ep!
Romilly.
-
That sounds a very likely development, Philip has been terrifying Blake by saying how very ill the "old lady" (Lynda) was, when he hears she's not in immediate danger of death, he'll probably spill a lot out to Roy.
TY
-
Would'nt it be good if Kirsty went with Roy?
Romilly ;D ;D
-
Yes ... but he's not down to go until some time in next week's episodes - and there's obviously "something" planned for one evening, as there is one of those very bland comments, like "life in Ambridge..." in the Radio times, by the listing for that evening. Always something lurking when they use similar phrases that "say nowt".
-
I've missed the Archers for about ten days .... has Lynda died/recovered ? Has the virus hit Ambridge yet ?? Has the Bull reverted to its proper name yet ???
-
Lynda back at home, the Bull is the Bull and the virus nowhere to be seen.....yet.
-
BUT... Roy is starting to put things together, when he hears that Blake discharged himslf from the Hospital and was collected my his (Welsh accent, big chap, 50s) "Uncle".
Now: who do you think that could be?
(No prizes)
TY
-
I managed to hear tonights; what on earth is Shula considering ordination for ? They never accept anyone of her age .... she must be ?? 60+ ?? (Just looked her up .... the character is 62+ ) She might be accepted as a Lay Reader - but after training she'd be 65 .... but not ordained ....
Unless Borsetshire has a completely different scheme to all other dioceses, of course !
-

Oh, - they're so painfully slow, aren't they?
When are 'Sherlock and Watson', aka Oliver and Roy, - going to add 2 and 2 together?
We're streets ahead of them on here! (And what if they run out of Episodes before they get to the grand denouement? :o)
Romilly ;D
-
I understand that they are continuing with episodes after those recorded pre lockdown https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2020/coronavirus-archers
Kay
-
Thanks Kay:-)
Personally, I was rather hoping that Ambridge would remain a 'Coronavirus free zone'|
Romilly.
-
Yes - it would be nice to have one bit of your life that was virus free :-\
Kay
-
Apparently the new episodes won't start till 25th May, there will be 3 weeks of archive episodes to fill the gap
https://www.radiotimes.com/news/radio/2020-04-18/the-archers-to-air-classic-episodes-amid-coronavirus-delays/
I was also hoping they would remain virus free :(
-
What? I really don't see the point of airing "Archive episodes", at all!
-
What? I really don't see the point of airing "Archive episodes", at all!
They probably fear that if they run out of new episodes and the Archers vanishes from the airwaves that regular listeners will forget all about Ambridge and never come back........
-
... but repeats of "Archive episodes" may well confuse some listeners, and it'd probably break me of the "Archers Habit" after listening to it since I was a child.
-
You don't want to hear Phil crying "Grace! Grace!" again?
Added: they surely won't have Nigel's demise again???? :o :o :o :o :o
-
That's the sort of "pick 'n' mix" I'd prefer to avoid!
-
And when they do come back, we're probably going to get a lot of long (15 minute) monologues...!!
Ranging from Kirsty, - 'Why do I always pick the wrong man'?
To Blake, 'To see the world in a grain of sand', - etc...
Romilly ;D
-
Shula: "I felt called...."
Peggy: "In the days when I first came to Ambridge..."
Jill: "When I first met Phil....." (No: We've had that one, last year, when she got close to her new bloke)
Perhaps we ought to write their monologues for them?
TY
-
So... We've only got until next Thursday for Phillip to be exposed as a slavemaster!
After that, it's 3 weeks of 'Classic' Episodes, - followed by the virus driven, phone-in monologues:-(
And so who's going to finally cotton on to him? Robert, Helen, Roy, Oliver? Or Harrison?
Romilly :o
-
It all seems too obvious - I suspect we are being led up the garden path and Philip will turn out to be the saint he started out as.
-
Nah, can't be ... Kirsty's destined to be perpetually left in the lurch, 'till she's old and grey.
-
And still no coronavirus in Ambridge .... I want to live there; I'm getting fed up with lockdown.
-
Philip and Gavin are definitely "wrong 'uns". Can't believe they'll be able to get away with it.... but will we have to wait until the coronavirus thingy is all over, to find out? We simply can't wait so long. Not possible.
TY
-
Things didn't sound too good for Roy last night:-(
Who'd want to get stuck with Gavin down a dark alleyway?
Romilly :o :o
-
Exactly! (I listen to the lunchtime repeats)
TY
-
Some good news.......just what we needed! :) Must add tissues to my shopping list.
-
Tonight looks like the last episode prior to the three week break for the repeats :-\
-
So... It looks like it's all going to be left hanging...!
Romilly :(
-
So... It looks like it's all going to be left hanging...!
Romilly :(
Presumably they'll pick it all up again on 25th May? Even if it is in a socially distanced manner
-
Nothing we can do, - but wait to find out janan!
But I have enjoyed The Archers being a virus free programme. I shall miss it:-(
Romilly.
-
So shall I miss the coronavirus free world of Ambridge. -And I so dearly want to hear Philip and Gavin get their come-uppance - and preferably be hunted out of town. Good about Emma's caravan, though ( Susan will probably have a conniption at her daughter living in a "caravan"/mobile home)
TY
-
Susan's reaction will be something to look forward to, then! Does anyone who also watches Coronation Street think that she and Sally Webster have a lot in common? ;D
-
Sorry, can't compare, never ever seen Coronation Street.
-
Is it not full circle for Emma and Ed ?
I’m sure when she left Will for Ed she lived in a caravan at her parents house as her father Neil wouldn’t allow Ed in his house.
-
Is it not full circle for Emma and Ed ?
I’m sure when she left Will for Ed she lived in a caravan at her parents house as her father Neil wouldn’t allow Ed in his house.
Yes that's right. It was a very inferior caravan though, they did make some comment about it last night.
It was a lovely scene to finish on :D
-
I knew that they'd get back together eventually:-)
And I loved the line about 'wanting to grow old together'... (Isn't that what we all want really?:-)
Romilly ;)
-
Aaaaaahhh!
But I really don't want to go through the "Archive stuff".
I want to "Get" Philip - and Gavin! And get on with that!
-
Agreed!
And I'm only going to worry about Blake, and the other 'horse's:-(
Romilly.
-
! Brilliant - nay, brilliant.
-
Neigh, neigh...( !)
You can tell we're getting withdrawal symptoms already...;-)
-
I am wondering why Harrison did not want Gavin to join the cricket team as he is living with Phillip and Kirsty in the village and therefore I would have thought technically 'resident.' Do you think Harrison knows something we don't. ;D ;D ;D
-
Probably - maybe it's "copper's instinct" that he's a bad 'un
Didn't Gavin nick Roy's new 'phone, make that call cancelling the DJ, and then slip the 'phone back into Roy's cricket bag at Nets? That's what I'd assumed... (not had it from the horse's mouth, of course)
TY
-
That's what I assumed too...
But perhaps Harrison knows about some 'previous' concerning Gavin?
We'll have to wait to find out!!
Romilly :-\
-
I'd lost track as I usually listen to it on my way out every night and with this lockdown, I haven't got into a routine of listening at home - daft I know but there you go .
-
I'm quite looking forward to hearing some of the old characters again !
Walter Gabriel; Julia; Mr Snowy ....
And Phil .... and Nigel falling off the roof ....
-
Nigel was 'Mr Snowy' wasn't he?
Wasn't that the ice cream van that he used to drive, wearing a gorilla suit?
Romilly :)
-
Titles of episodes for next three weeks from BBC website
Ed & Emma's wedding
Adam and Ian’s civil partnership
Kirsty and Tom are getting married
Chris and Alice return from Vegas
Joe Grundy’s wake
Brookfield in lockdown
Brian confesses to Jennifer
The Grundys’ eviction from Grange Farm
Floods hit Ambridge
Helen wins custody of the boys
New Year’s Eve - The Lower Loxley Ball
Flower and Produce Show
Hunt Ball
Bonfire Night
Christmas lights switch on
Doesn't look like any very old episodes
-
They're not. It said somewhere "...during the past 20 years...." It seems less than that from the synopses. More like the last 5 years, max!
Perhaps we ought to write our own synopsis for each episode we'd like to hear for the coming week?
-
The Grundy's were evicted in 2000, so just 20 years. Brookfield F & M was 2001.
-
Gosh, was it really all that time ago?
-
I'm a bit late to the party, but how are they going to explain the gap in time? Will they just resume as if no time has passed, or will some events just fail to happen? Jolene's performance on the cricket pitch, Ambridge's V.E.Day celebrations, Robert & Linda's B&B guests, etc..
-
Heaven only knows. I suppose that if it all goes on long enough they may start with a "New readers start here" resume of the ongoing storylines to last week, and perhaps cobble together some monologues reflecting on the ongoing plots, possibly a dialogue or two, even.
But I must admit, I think we ought to write our own development for the downfall of Philip and Gavin, to keep us going. It could give us each something to do during that 15 minute slot.
Perhaps we could see in time, who was closest to the chosen outcome?
TY
-
OK - a long shot: Blake and the 'horses' will turn out to be scalliwags and Gavin has taken on the responsibility of reforming them into useful and productive citizens, so he feels the need to shield them from people who might blame them for the things they do.
I'm having trouble with the too obvious representation of him as a stereotypical conniving Welshman.
-
I'll go for Phil himself having had a very deprived past, and Blake and the "Horses" are the youngsters of a similar background that he found living rough in properties he was developing, at a time when his business was in trouble, and he couldn't pay qualified staff.
Realising they were inadequate to cope on their own he's been exploiting them, low pay and putting them up in poor accommodation, as has been outlined already.
Later Gavin comes in on the scam, he's greedier and grinds them down further, even supplying "substances" perhaps.
Gavin had the idea of a scam about materials, too. Gavin also is quite happy obviously to bully and push people ( makes you wonder what on earth Philip's first wife must have been like?)
I'm having no trouble with the obvious representation of Phil as a chap who came up the hard way, and is determined to keep on top, but not the Welsh bit, that's incidental, I think. Gavin to me is probably the real snake in the grass.
Roy sees Blake on a street corner in Birmingham when he and Phoebe are on a visit to Hayley ( remember her?) and gets more information about Blake's background, so tells Harrison, who sleuths it all out, and brings out the cuffs.
That's my pedestrian offering.
TY
-
I think, like many story lines that suddenly fade away, it will be totally forgotten when this present run of repeats is finished. Remember Matt Crawford and his dodgy dealings. Christine being scammed out of all her savings. The person who encouraged Freddie to start dealing in drugs (Ellis I think was the name).
-
Well, - what an anticlimax last night's Episode was!!
David Archer droning on in a long moaning monologue, - followed by another character doing the same...
Is this how it's going to be from now on?
Romilly ::)
-
I think the break might have 'cured' me! I didn't bother with any of the repeats, has it started up again in lockdown?
-
I'm also thinking that the rebroadcasting of all those "archive" episodes, followed by this makeshift, may even cure me .... and I can't ever, ever recall NOT listening to the "Archers", from a tot, a schoolkid ( okay, that was because my Mum did ) away as a student, and all through...
Not with a bang, but a whimper.....
-
Well it hasn't cured me. I enjoyed last night's episode as much as ever :)
-
I did find last night's episode dull, but perhaps I was expecting too much?
I'd just like it to cut to the chase, - and for Philip to be unmasked!! (And get his comeuppance!:-)
Romilly. ;D
-
This weeks RT says that " the team at the Archers has promised that established stories will not be forgotten, but the emphasia will now shift towards drama on a smaller scale . Decisions on resolving or ramping up existing plot lines have yet to be made " :-\
Haven't listened to last nights yet
Kay
-
It's different, but - with all due respect - they are doing their best now it's impossible to record as a group. Personally, I've enjoyed a lot of the past episodes. We were out of the country from 1991 to 2011 so I've had a couple of questions cleared up. For example, never could understand where Ruaridh came from, that was all explained to me last week. It will be interesting to see how they develop stories over the next few weeks.

When Henry Archer first had a speaking part, he was a real two or three year child. But he didn't go to the studio to record the programme with the other actors. He recorded his lines at home and they were spliced in afterwards. Although they did sound a bit wooden at times, because he obviously wasn't reacting to the lines spoken just before. Trained, experienced actors should be able to do the same thing and obviously achieve a better result than a toddler, so the spliced result wouldn't be too bad. At least that way we could get two-handers at least, maybe three, and would be much more interesting than David and Josh moaning on separately. Who were they supposed to be talking to, anyway?

Themselves? Interior monologues?

If there had been an imaginary cat or dog in the room it might have made a bit more sense.
I doubt if Rover or Tiddles would have been impressed with Ruth's lasagne.

David did at least have a sheepdog with him - at the start he told it to sit, and at the end he urged it to come on.

Listened to the Podcast Radio Hour on Radio 4 Extra yesterday and half the programme was devoided to how the Archers is being recorded in this new format including a chat to Lillian https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000jhm8

Well, 70 years old!
After a few months not interested enough to listen, I'm gradually coming back to listening to it - I usually listen either to the omnibus edition, or lunchtimes, but there seems to be fewer episodes now -assume no Sunday evening broadcast so no Monday repeat, but it feels even less.
Anyone else gradually returning?
-
Yes - just 4 episodes a week sadly!
I never stopped listening and there's a Anniversary quiz tonight at 7.15 after tonights episode

A bit of a letdown that Philip caved in so quickly...
And surely you have to wait a year before you can start divorce proceedings?

Maybe Kirsty will find that out when she talks to a solicitor. I thought Kirsty took it very well but why in earth did she marry him?? :-\

I missed several months 2019-2020. I got behind. I used to catch up on BBC IPlayer but it changed to "BBC Sounds" and I couldn't get the hang of it. My return coincided with the monologues.
I've begun a new thread for the new year and the special anniversary.
