Hi all.
Frank Smith Murison was born in Cluny, Aberdeenshire, Scotland in 1881, parents George Smith and Isabel(la) Murison who never married. As an adult he gave his name as Frank Murrison Smith.
According to the 1921 census, Frank arrived in Canada in 1905 and settled in the Montreal region.
Frank died in Lynchburg, Virginia, USA in 1966, presumably visiting the family of his late brother George who had died there in 1953 and where his mother had died earlier in 1935 - or possibly his niece if she still lived in the area:

Frank's Virginia death record lists his wife's name as Catherine Donald Smith. The only online tree other than mine that has this family I have found presumes Donald was Catherine's surname but I suspect it may be her middle name. The 1921 census indicates she was born in Scotland about 1883 and arrived in Canada in 1905. I have not found a marriage for Frank and Catherine in Scotland.
Catherine died in 1962 and they are buried together at Cimetière Mont-Royal, Outremont.
The 1921 census shows 4 daughters, Lena (13), Bella (12), Lillian (7) and Kathleen (1).
I am interested in finding marriage details for Frank & Catherine and confirming Catherine's maiden name.
I would also like to find out if there there were any more children after the 1921 census but I appreciate that is less than 100 years ago so could be restricted.
Any assistance gratefully received.

Frank served in the CEF (Overseas Canadian Expeditionary Force) in WW1. His digitized service record is at the link below courtesy of Library and Archives Canada. Click at the PDF towards the bottom of the page to access the record. There are 54 pages and it will be slow to download. Catherine and his first 3 daughters are listed on one of the pages.

PS....he gives a birth year of 1883 on his attestation but there is a birth year of 1881 recorded on one of the other pages, if I remember correctly.

There is a Canadian Passenger List for Frank Murison born 1882 Aberdeen and aged 24 years - Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada to Halifax Nova Scotia - arriving 12 April 1906 on the Corinthian.
Also a John Murison 23 years on that same ship. Both cattlemen.

I believe mother Isabella may have remarried. I have just been looking at Frank and Catherine's findagrave entry and there is also a parent record for an Isabella Smith Murrison Williams.

Parents were George Smith and Isabella Murrison who never married. Isabella did make the journey to Lynchburgh where the older brother George lived.

There is also a Mary Ann Thomson Williamson travelling with her - single - mill worker -

Mary Ann's middle name was Thom rather than Thomson as listed on the shipping record.
I have never found any evidence that Isabel(la) Murison and George Smith married and her marriage
to Robert Williamson would be her first.

I suspect this may be Frank's maternal 1st cousin, John Alexander Murison born in 1883 in Kintore, Aberdeenshire who eventually settled in Ontario.

It looks like Bella pre-deceased her parents.
I have found her baptism as Isabella Murison Smith, parents Frank Murison Smith & Catherine Donald, born 11 March 1909 and baptised on 25 August.

The page immediately prior to the one with the baptism for Isabella has the baptism of Lena Murison Smith on the same date, 25 Aug 1909. She was born 31 Dec 1907.
For some reason there was a marriage record between the 2 baptism records. I think it's because baptisms are recorded on the one side and marriages on the facing page.

It wasn't her parents' marriage, either, although that would not have surprised me with my Smith/Murison families. I didn't expect her full name to be Lena.
Kathleen's birth 27 February 1920 and baptism 14 June.
