A relative of mine John Donald Copland born 1897 Peterhead, Scotland emigrated to New York then moved to Canada in 1930. He was a plumber. He was living in Scarborough, Ontario in 1958 with his wife Ruby who I know nothing about not even her last name. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to tracking down any family members please?

It makes it harder if she has to trawl lots of newspapers.

The date was helpful Sandra ...he didn't appear with a name search, so I looked through the papers starting with Feb 1 1981 and I found him :) :)
Obituary for John Donald Copland in the Toronto Star on 3 Feb 1981, page C19. Obit says that he died at the Branson hospital on 1 Feb 1981. Remembered by his wife Ruby and his brother Alfred of Ottawa. There is no mention of other family members or where he is buried. The funeral was held at the Morley S. Bedford Funeral Chapel on Eglinton Ave West.

Found a very short obit for Ruby. In the Toronto Star, 4 August 1994, page A22 (also in 3 Aug edition). It just says that Ruby S Copland died at the Branson Hospital on July 27 1994. She was in her 90th year. Wife of the late John. No mention of other family members.

You are correct Sandra :) :)...Toronto Star Jan 26 1953, page 30. Obituary for Esther Ann Brown. She died at her home in Oakwood on Jan 25 1953. Wife of the late Hiram H Brown. Mother of Ross, Norma (Mrs Grant), Errol and Ruby (Mrs Copeland). In her 87th year. Interment Little Britain Christian Cemetery.
Obit says Copeland, but it is has to be Copland.

I am a relative of Ruby Copland (nee Brown). She was the wife of John Donald Copland "Jack.
My Grandmother was first cousins with Ruby.
Feel free to ask me any info you require. Ruby left many of her family photos my my Grandmother when she passed. I now have the photos.
