Looking for a marriage between John Maddison and Elizabeth Davidson. This was his first marriage. They had a daughter Mary Ann born August 1838 in Durham and states her mother as Elizabeth formerly Davidson on the birth certificate. I know the mother probably died in childbirth as she died around same time as Mary Ann was born. I have searched everywhere to find a marriage without any luck. Can anyone help please.

Forgot to say Mary Ann Maddison was born in New Durham

The only marriage I can see could be too early
John Maddison married Elizabeth Davidson 24 February 1812 at St Nicholas Durham.
It's the only marriage which comes up on both Durham Records Online and FindMyPast.

I couldn't find him and his daughter in the 1841 census. Found them both in the 1851 census with his second wife Jane that he married in 1845 also his two sons Edward and William. I am beginning to think they might not have been married as lots of them said they were
. It could be that it is the one in South Shields in 1827 which makes it 10 years married before they had Mary Ann. I know she died probably in childbirth as it was around the same quarter that she had Mary ann. I am grateful for your help. Grateful thanks

The 1827 marriage could be the one for the family of John + Elizabeth Maddison in 1841 found by Jamjar.
Here they are in Thornley in 1851.

Mother's maiden surname for daughters Isabella and Elizabeth appears to be Davison.

Have you found Jane in 1841?
Her maiden name seems to be Hilton. Do you have the full details of the marriage?
Are you certain you have the right birth for Mary Ann?
I mean, I don't know :), flailing around here at the moment! Can we have more details?

The one with John and Jane in Durham is the one as Elizabeth died , we believe in childbirth in 1838 when Mary Ann was born. He married Jane Hilton in 1845 and went on to have 5 children, Edward and William being the eldest. A sincere thanks for your help. This is for my grandchildren. It is their late maternal grandmothers family. Lots of it had been done by a great aunt who got quite a bit done before she died.Once again thank you
