Hi
I have been tracing my family history, my maternal lineage is the Ellis family.
My grandfather was Wilfred Ellis, and he was one of 7 children, including Robert J Ellis.
My mum remembers being told as a child that Robert J had emigrated to America after being accused of being a deserter (he was a pacifist).
Records appear for U.S. Social Security applications for him, with matching birth parent names, but as I don't own the worldwide account I'm unable to access this record.
Can anyone shed some light? Thank you!

Are you able to find any spouse/marriage details for him in America?

There are many other Robert Ellis's born in 1925 (including 13th May), and I was slowly trying to see what records were going to appear. If he has dropped his middle name it is a rather common name.
You could try a grave/cemetery search using that date of death as I have not yet matched him up to a naturalisation.

That clipping mentions a wife and a son, both alive in 2007.
I can see a possible marriage for that son with the correct parents' names, but we are getting a bit speculative, and we cannot mention living people on here.
Added:
Sorry, ignore that, that person died in 1997 so cannot be the son.

My mum has just said that apparently he married a Maltese woman, whether or not that has truth and whether she moved to america and they met there, I'm unsure. This has all been fantastic though thank you! :)

The Dale family proposed for his wife appears to be rooted in Pennsylvania for the wife and parents. Could you push your Mother a little further on any more information about them?
