Evening everyone.
YAY Just received confirmation of a DNA match to George Ibbotson 1700 born in Cawthorne.
That's about as much as I know he had a son my ancestor another George Ibberson 1733 Cawthorne.
-
Not quite sure what you are asking us here.
-
It would be nice to find out some more information about him like his parents ect.
-
Isnt 1700 a bit of a long way back for a confirmed dna match?
-
It Was on Ancestry ::)

Before you jump into looking for his parents, have you confirmed a sourced paper trail back to this potential ancestor?
-
I've done a tree online, but I didn't think the register offices would be open to print off paper copies because of the Corona virus.
-
Is this via ThruLines on Ancestry?

Register Offices would only go back to 1837.. Before that it would be baptism, marriage and burial records. Do you mean local archives rather than ROs. Have you looked at online sources for baptism, etc. records?

FS has a transcript of the 1733 baptism in Cawthorne with a father of that name. No George bpt circa 1730 though.

That’s the one gadget
-
How did you find one born 1700?
-
The nearest baptism that I can find in Yorkshire is 1 August 1705 - father was a James Ibberson. Others were in London.
There is a burial for a George Ibberson, labourer, in Cawthorne in ?July 1755 but no age given
